Hi all!

I purchased the remote engine start from connected drive store (didn't spec the feature when ordered). But the function is not showing up in my car. Anyone has gone through this? Thanks!

Did you install the feature? Once you buy it you have to install it. I think that's in the software update menu somewhere, although I haven't done this myself (I optioned remote start from the factory).

Once it's installed you should see remote start in the climate settings, you have to enable it before your key will start the car.

I was going to try to find this thread to reference!

applecst also three clicks to holding the lock button on key fob will start it once you get it activated, I find that much more useful than going through the app.

Thanks! The car is not upgrading the software tho … update needs me be driving?

Hey I went through all of this recently.

You need to make sure that within 12 to 24 hours that your car is accessible via Wi-Fi and then a non blocking area for cell service.

You can also go to your apps and look to update accordingly and what happens is your car will install the firmware do the updates and reboot itself a couple times.

Then you need to make sure that you've checked the box in your iDrive settings to allow remote start to happen.

Then you should be able to triple click your remote and it should work.

It took me about 45 days for the climate control remote start to show up in my app and that was after me calling connected drive support going into the dealer and talking to the regional manager and then magically it showed up because any configurations from what you purchased from the app store that shows is actually on BMW servers.

Thank you! You post was helpful haha. When you said connect to Wi-Fi, can the car actually connect to my home Wi-Fi? Or just bmw's own internet connection? It's been 2 days and I have had short drives out. The software update page keeps showing searching. See pic attached. Thanks!

And the only thing that I can think about is that did you go into car settings general settings data privacy and make sure all services including analysis is turned on?

Did you also go to apps BMW messages and see what it says there because that's what triggered me to do something not the remote upgrade to firmware?

Yea, it's been over 2 days since my order and it shows up us my subscribed service. My bmw messages only has my connected drive security code which is irrelevant..... It's driving me crazyyyyyyy

Well I listed four things that you need to validate and the next best thing I can do is to recommend for you to go to the BMW dealership and talk to a genius with the understanding that they probably don't know what the hell but the good thing they can do is get the right people involved that can as that's what they did for me because my app wouldn't show the remote start option and it just took going up the chain to take care of it.

Thanks! Did you get the push update right after purchase or it showed up randomly after 48 hrs?
