New M3 USA configurator online: A guide to M2 options and pricing?

The Bimmerpost front page has a post that the new M3 configurator is online. Rumors have stated that the G87 will have similar options as the M3/4. Based on the configurator, my options are $8700. If the base M2 is $62k then I'm looking at $71k. That's a hot number. Guess we shall see soon. Thoughts?

I thought the m2 was all about having very few add ons, thus a more pure driver's car.

The M2 gets 19's standard, unlike with the M3/4 where you need to pay $1,300 to upgrade the 18's.

Don't forget the CF roof. That'll be at least 1k.

Geez just realized they upped the buckets to $4500.

I was not a player at $3800 so definitely not at $4500.

I definitely expect to see the M Carbon roof pricing much closer to the $3k it is on the M850i.

Most likely you are looking at $7-$7.5K total just for carbon roof and buckets.

IIRC, I think the cf roof for the 3 series LCI is also around $3k.

$3k?? Wow. The base price better be well below the g80 then or else I personally will dish out more and get the 4 door car regardless of how ugly the grill is.

Yeah that was pretty shocking. I am not in the market for these seats anyway but damn, you can get a custom USA made leather sectional for $4500.

It would be a great if they had an option for an aluminum roof. I'd forgo the CF roof if that was an offered and it would be cool if you could get in body color or gloss black. Aluminum is far cheaper to produce than CF and is roughly 1/3 the weight of steel, so that would be a win win IMO. The G42's hood and fenders are already made of aluminum and I'm sure the G87's will be as well. Even so, I doubt they would offer that just so they can push you into paying through the nose for a CF one.

It would be nice to have carbon buckets and roof but can't justify paying this much to shave off a few pounds

It is looking like a sunroof G87 for me. I am never going to track it and the majority of individuals that order a carbon fiber roof order it for the bling factor and not for the lower center gravity. The real reason as to why someone should order it.

Edit: No CF roof for the US for the G20 LCI.

The M Carbon Fiber Roof is only $1900 for the M340i in Canada. That was the price for MY22 and it is the same price for the LCI.It is also still only available for cars built at the Munich plant.I would be surprised if it is more that for the G87.

That seems more reasonable. I'm hoping it will be between 1500-2000 US$ for the g87

One thing that worries me is the likelihood of the G87 not getting as many options to choose from compared to the G80/82. The older M2 had less options when it came to colors, interior options, etc. compared to what was offered on the M3/M4

It would nice to be able to spec things like a Fiona Red/Black interior w/ full leather but I'm afraid BMW is going to continue to limit the options for the M2 on purpose in order to maintain a certain hierarchy with the M cars

Part of the problem with the F87 M2 was that it was built in Leipzig, an outdated plant with very little extra space for storage and customization.

The G87 will be built (largely by robots) at BMWs newest and most high tech plant (in Mexico). This SHOULD mean more options, hopefully including individual colors, CF roof, etc.

Fingers crossed!

Not 100% true. It was the newest factory until Plant Mexico was built.

The BMW Leipzig Plant is one of the most modern and sustainable car plants in the world. BMW cars for customers all over the world are produced here since 2005. More than 960 vehicles per day roll off the production lines.

Garage List
2023 M2  [8.00]
It's too bad but in all honesty, I don't see this car being "affordable" anymore.
I figure:
MSRP: $64,500
Carbon Seats: $3,500
Carbon Roof: $1,200
Executive Package: $2,000
That alone is over $70K, which is a really big bump over my F87C at $62K.
So where does that get us?
Thread Hijack!
If the G87 with some light options is over $70K+, are you still a customer?

I've got some more bad news for you. They CF buckets have had a price increase to $4,500 on the G80/2, so expect the same for the G87. The CF roof will be at least $2k, if not more. I still think this car can be had for a decent deal, but you'd have to forgo any major options.

Yes. Considering I want a few Individual options, and the $9500 CCBs are NOT available, I will be quite comfortable at anything below $80k. Based on the M3 pricing, I will have @$11k in options, plus whatever the Individual Paint and a few extra leather pieces cost.
