Audio Skipping

Just wondering if any of you guys are having an issue where your audio skips. It's been happening even before the new November update. This issue has been driving me up a wall because nothing seems to fix it. I've tried unpairing my phone, resetting network settings, hard and soft reboot on the iDrive 8 system, nothing has worked. I know it's not a CarPlay issue because the Spotify app itself does it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You mean an audio drop out? Like scattered short 1-2 seconds of no sound and it picks up again? Could be wifi disconnecting if it’s CarPlay or BT if it’s iDrive player. Could be something interfering with the connection?

Yeah it's an audio drop out but it's weird that it happens through the native Spotify app in BMW. That's why I don't think it's a CarPlay issue, it's also worth mentioning that I've noticed the maps within CarPlay will stutter when it happens as well. This only happened once but it had even turned the right-side screen black as if it was resetting. Truly don't know how to solve this issue but it's definitely ruining my experience within the car.

I had similar problem. I don’t think it’s a reception problem either. It happened in Spotify and Sirius. I expect both apps to cache data ahead to prevent short reception dropouts. I restarted i8 dashboard and it reduced the problem. I have not seen it again after the recent upgrade.

What software version is your car on? I had this problem in my car but it was fixed with the 11/2023 update.

I'm currently on the 11/2023 update.. might try heading to the dealership to see if they can put me on the 3/2024 that I've heard about. It is a releif to hear I'm not the only one dealing with this issue though. It's just super weird since it only started doing it a couple months ago but was working fine when I first got the car.

For me it happened on the built in Spotify app from day 1. I would just randomly have the audio drop for half a second or so then come back.

Like I said this was fixed on the 11/2023 update for me, at least I think it was anyway. My car is now on 03/2024 because I took into the service centre for a replacement headlight and they updated it without even telling me. It is quite possible that I did not notice it quick enough and that it was actually the 03/2024 update that fixed it.

I have a 2024 M240i. Not sure which software rev I'm on, but I have the audio skipping too while using Android Auto. It's super annoying.
