Sunroof... any pics?

Any pictures of an open sunroof? Does it open with the glass outside the car. Only one video reviewer has commented that it is a fairly large size..

i haven't specifically seen a 240i with the roof open, but in general i don't think they make sunroofs where the glass stays on the outside of the car when open anymore.. or if they do.. i haven't seen one in ages

I don't have pics at the moment but glass slides under roof (stays inside). Wind visor pops up and is the only thing the protrudes from vehicle.

Glass sunroof on a Porsche 911 raises out above the car and slides back... which is why I ask.

That sounds great. I'm also happy that it is a larger area!

It opens by sliding into a pocket in the roof. However for the tilt, obviously it tilts up.

F40 135i slides up and out. It's panoramic sunroofs that do this, G42 is integrated mate.

That photo is a bit deceiving. The sunroof is huge! In the photo it appears narrower than the sun visor, it is about 4x as wide. As to it not opening all the way, I briefly remember reading something in the manual about a partial open position for wind abatement or something. Might have to hold the switch fully for full opening. I will check it out later.

If it goes back farther than that, I'll eat my hat. Link is for video

Does the hat come with soup?😄
You're right, doesn't open any further.
But the glass area is much larger than on the F22.

Glad I opted out as we really don't use the full opener in our other ride.
I would feel cheated on that for $800......

Kinda envious you get the option to gain the headroom, save weight and money.

9 times out of 10 when I get in the car I forget I have one.

The sunroof opens plenty imo.

For me the main benefit is providing some general light into the cabin (and being 20% larger than the previous one, it seems to do well).

Surprised it's integrated and doesn't just slide over the roof like my RSX (which opens much more).

Anyone know if the 2023/2024 M2 Sunroof is the exact same as the M240i in terms of size and opening? Thanks

Used it for the first time the other day and it was great. No wind but still get the fresh air (and hear the exhaust).

Same roof, would be weird if it wasn’t identical.

For those asking how much it opens, remember the automatic “open” setting isn’t fully open. It’s a default open position that doesn’t compromise on wind noise. Once open, you can hold the button and it’ll open further. A lot of bimmers work the same way.

My ‘04 330i opens fully. It’s glorious compared to my 240i.

Not in the 240i; the auto-open is as far as it goes
