Honestly the only car I lusted after over the past decade was a C6 (2006-2013) Z06 Corvette--the one with the LS7 7.0L V8. But the time window for finding a decent specimen there expired. And I don't want to purchase a ten year old car now.

As the new Supra drew nearer to release I was excited about that--until I saw what it looked like. I just don't like the way it looks. A little too bulbous for me perhaps. It wasn't the car for me.

But I knew I wanted an I6 turbo. And then I saw the G42 and it was all over.

I'm looking to replace my 10 year old F22 M235i, and I keep coming back to the G42 M240i. I want something track-able, but that has decent luxury touches for daily commuting and when the wife's with me. There is a ton that bugs me about the G42 though. Enough that I am looking at almost anything else, including everything on your list. Plus the Mustang that others have mentioned (fat, poor mpg, poor quality). And a Camaro 1SS 1LE (the worst ergonomics ever, and heavy).

The only other car that I keep coming back to is a Cadillac CT4V Blackwing. Pricing closer to M2/RS3. And crappy mileage. But it surprisingly weights the same as an M2. Has more room and is really nice inside, with great seats and real buttons for controls. You can get it with a superior manual. And every single car review raves about it's handling. M3 level car for M2 prices.

Still, I'll probably end up with a G42, as much as it's annoying me in so many little ways......

Considering electric cars, lol? I currently own a M3P and 23 M240i, and tbh, I am having a hard time to choose which one I want to drive on a given day.

The RS3 is tempting. Sticker is ~$10k more, but I would suspect it holds its value better than a M240 in the long run.

I'm warming up to an i4 M50, but it's $20k more than a M240.

Occasionally I think about a Tesla M3P, but I just can't talk myself into it.

I would consider a used Cayman/718 + a winter cruiser (not a beater), but again, that's more $ than a M240.

I actually think that Chevy lost their classic Vette image with the C8. If you pull someone off the street who isn't a car person, I bet they'd guess that this is either a Ferrari or a Lambo by its profile. Same with the way that it sounds ( I actually like it but it's far from a traditional Vette sound now). I also don't like the weird row of 20 physical buttons. There's no way that you can muscle memory one that's not first or last without looking while driving.

All that being said, I respect the performance of this mid-engine supercar, especially for the price.

i think the C8 was absolutely insane out of the gate but isn't/won't age quite as well. they used to be a head turner and now i don't even bother looking when i see them. performance is there obviously but i dont think it'll ever be a classic

Yes.

As I stated in my post number 9, I "really" love my 2022 M240i x-drive but I have been playing around with the Corvette configurator. But then I think of practicality and how much I like the M240i. By the time I was done, the cost for the spec that I wanted was around 25k more. So there's that as well.

One of the sexiest cars on the road. Amazing looks, exhaust sound, steering, and engine. 5 cubic feet trunk... so it fails for me as a daily. Haha. I wanted one so bad. Not fast at all, but I would have still gotten it. I am in a wheelchair and even though it has backseats for one, for some weird reason as you slide the driver's seat back, it also goes up and leaves no room to pass the wheelchair through into the backseat. Oh well...Loving my M240i

I was on the wait list for the C8. I finally got a call from the dealerships and I told them to cancel.

The 2024 is now just under $70k for the stripped base model 1LT.

And if you check out the forums , you will quickly see the amount of DCT issues many people are having . Not to mention - other electronic gremlins.

And for me personally , I would feel a bit awkward in a C8. I don't want that type of attention from people who aren't really sure what car you're driving , but think it's some type of exotic.

If I had a C8 for my weekend toy, i would reconsider .

But for a DD , I want something more practical and casual

I've been eyeing the Vette since the C7 came out. The in stock C8s always had crazy markups. Well, this past weekend a local dealer offered me MSRP on a new C8 with 3 miles on it. What the heck, I took it home.
