Summer Tyre Setup - dilemma

Hey!

Would love to get some advice on a summer type setup. There was a nice deal on some 8x18 alloys (4) which I picked up. What kind of tires can I put for those rims? I would like to have wider tires in the back so will a 225/40/18 235/40/18 work?

Seems like that should fit okay.

https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/t...ize-calculator

check this and can always talk to your tyre shop for advice if needed.

I'm just wondering if going for 10mm wider in the back will make much difference. My 330d is 225 front and 255 rear which is quite a difference. You might be better off saving a bit of money and run a square setup. Just a thought to keep in mind

Thanks for the link! Yh, I thought about doing the upgrade to a setup like yours but that means getting two sets of new 18" rims (8Jx2,8.5Jx2). At this point, no budget for this. Is a square setup 235/40/18 worth it then? Food for thought

go with 235 square and this way you can use tires front and back. If rwd make sure to swap wheels front to back every 5k mi if you want to extend tire life. rear tires are used much faster on rwd chassis. Also you will get more neutral handling and a bit more grip in front without imacting steering feel so really no downsides to 235 sq. I use 235/45 sq on Apex arc8 17" 9.0 et30 as my winter set on 335.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! Yeah, it’s RWD. I’ll look at what tires to get. Do you have any recommendations? Please don’t days PS4s because I don’t see the point on having them on a 2.0 diesel

yeah don't need ps4 but checknout other models. Mich may be more expensive but they last longer than other brands per my experience and are quiter. Check out Mich, Conti, gdyr and bstone. Pirelli wares down very fast so avoid it. Other brands may be ok also such as Dunlop just need to check out reviews. Many here in US use Mich a/s and Conti dw for dd. I use Conti extreme contact after a set of PSS and so far they are excellent.

I would do 235/40 and put about a 10mm spacer on the rear. I love my PS4S' but have read good comments on Continentals.

Appreciate the info! I’ll do some scouting and see what is available here. Will a 10mm spacer work in the back? I would love to have the amazing aesthetics of the wide wheels in the back?

Yeah I think I will stick with the 235/40. Dunno that much about spacers but will it mimic the flush look of a 255?

rear will be tucked in and you can most likely add 10mm spacer. front will be ok. Get it installed first and then see how it fits. Same tires can have diff widths from diff brands so need to have evrything mounted first to determine if you want spacers and bolts.

You will need to measure the current setup, see how much room you have and act accordingly. I have PS4S 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 on Style 189's but I did install a set of lowering spring perches on the front to lessen the gap. I will attach shots of side and front for you to see my results.

Will do! Thank you for the time and guidance! I’ll post here when I have everything set up!

This looks nice… yeah I’ll have the 235s put in before I make any modifications.

Thanks for the pics!

Modifications? Always do the suspension before tires and wheels so you know exactly what you have to work with.

I meant the spacers. Not going to be touching the suspension.
