You can opt out of the rear passenger side thumbing noise option. I wish I didn’t go for that upgrade.

Well yeah, the 230i (lighter, looks better, most say handles better) at 47k almost fully loaded is a way better value than an M240i specced to almost 70k almost fully loaded. I completely agree that at that price an M2 is a no brainer; they can be gotten optioned well for like 75-80k.

Agree on the looks better, but I highly recommend driving a 240 before committing to a 230. Granted, I would not spend $70K on a 240 regardless.

just adding on here again but yea, do not pay near $70k for an M240. great car, not worth that with other options out there. excellent option when you're in the low/mid 50s, not mid/high 60s

I will say this, even with the risk of sounding like a complete rube: I find the sensatec to be great, especially being $1500 cheaper than the leather options. I compared the two at the dealer on a few models on the lot and the sensatec felt as good or better.

The other controversial opinion I would add is that I don't have the ZTK package and I still thoroughly enjoy pushing the car to my limits. I honestly doubt I could push the car to its limits any time soon. And again, the savings up front as well as in the slight extra cost for tires, brake pads is something I doubt that I will miss.

The tires and brakes are worth it. I find even with ztk the brakes are not that good.

The ZTK’s larger brakes are not designed to stop better, the extra caliper mass is only to assist with cooling. They are really just a cosmetic item for most.

Yes, but I think some may view it was “bigger brakes = stronger grab”

Dont the bigger rotors help with stopping?

Based on what I read on the subject, no. Google the topic and you’ll find a lot to read.

No. You can’t beat physics.
They help in increased cooling therefore reduces brake fade so you stop more reliably more often.

if anyone cares about resale value, the only options that matter are leather, auto trans, and premium package (this is not my hot take on customer desires, i am in the process of selling and these are the only ones that affect value)

Honestly even the ps4s arent the best track tire so if you are serious you are going to want some track tires and some track brake pads.

I wish they offered this car with all seasons. It’s an M-Lite/daily driver, no need for track tires TBH.

They do offer all seasons for my region. And for the amount of horse power it has I’d go for summer tires. Ps4s not really a track tire. Cup2 is where you start getting into the track tires territory, ps4s is high performance daily tires. People do have fun with the car, ex take it to auto cross or something.

This. ^^^
And I’d (well I did) get another set of wheels with winter tyres on and swap them around when temperature consistently drops below 7c.

Dedicated tyres rather than a jack of all trades.

PS4Ss are better than you think for weekend fun at the track. For DOT compliant track tires, Cup 2 are really not that great of a tire (or at least not at the top of the list), there are better options available for track tires in the same or at a lower price point.

I meant with ZTK (or any package), always provide the option: snow, all season, summer. This would allow the person to get tires applicable to where they live. I’m in NE U.S., I do not go to the track, so all seasons have always been my preference. I just spent $1,400 on a set of AS’s, which sucked given I wish I could have just bought the car with these.
