M3 - Road noise from Pilot Sport Cup+?
I would be very interested to hear what you think about the level of road noise generated by the Pilot Sport Cup+'s fitted on the 19" M3 wheels.. I am finding them pretty deafening on anything but the smoothest tarmac. My previous car, 335d M-Sport, with 19"'s, obviously had a bit less tyre in contact with the road (but not that much - 20mm on fronts, 10mm on rears), but was SO much quieter, and that was fitted with the standard Bridgestone Runflats, which I imagine might have been a little more prone to transferring vibration.
i'm wondering if the culprits here are the Cup+'s, and I would be curious to hear any feedback from anyone who has the earlier OEM fitment of the PS2's on the 19" wheels. I was pretty sure that I was going to swap out the Cup+'s with PS2's come replacement time anyway (which I fear could be a lot sooner than one might want - 5k anyone?) but that might be accelerated considerably if I think the PS2's are going to be quieter. They are drowning out the sound of that lovely engine! |

Hi mate and welcome!
I'm on PS2's on the 19's and I've never noticed excessive road noise. The V8 tends to dominate noise in the cabin... Awesome tyre by the way, superb grip on the twisty's |

Hi - Thanks for the welcome!
Loving the car, especially impressed by the EDC at the moment. Worried I might pick up more speeding tickets in the week I've had the car than I have in 25 years driving tho'! Might be a short lived ownership... Thanks for the feedback about the PS2's. I'm thinking that there is just too much contact with the road with the cups+ for relaxed motorway driving.. Great for corners though. |

Hope to see your M in the flesh sometime, either at one of our London mini-meets or at one of the UK meets...
