What's the procedure for DIY installing new TPMS Sensors?

Howdy. I ordered some new APEX wheels, and will be ordering new TPMS sensors to go along with them. AFAIK I'm still on the originals from ~13 years ago. What's the procedure for binding the new sensors to my car? I plan on taking the wheels and tires to a shop for mounting and balancing, and I'd love to be able to configure the TPMS sensors on my own without having to take the car in.

I have a Foxwell NT520 tool already, but I'm not sure if this can do TPMS.

Install the new wheels with the new TPMS on the car, go into the menu on your idrive screen and go the the TPMS section, then click the reset or relearn option and drive as stated on the screen

Make sure to order correct version. if you have MY 2008 - Huf RDE048V21 will be plug-and-play (no need for any special programming)

I don't have iDrive. Can I accomplish the same task via the BC button?

Yes. The procedure is identical to one you use to reset TPM when a low tire pressure indicator comes up.
This will (re)register OEM (or OE TPMS with WAL technology) sensor with car RDC module

Be very careful with the version you get and make sure it was made for your car whether it's LCI or pre-LCI. You can verify your build date on realoem.com by inputting your vin

+1: RealOEM is the best source to confirm

The version change was date and chassis driven (not LCI with pre-LCI)

For E90/91 changeover date was around June 2009 - v2. Anything before that date (LCI or pre-LCI) is v1. (my E91 is LCI, March 2009, close to split date, v1)

Thanks for the clarification, I was trying to remember off the top of my head and assumed it was based off pre-LCI vs LCI
