E90 2011: Adding USB to Professional HU

Afternoon all

I want to add USB to my (non-iDrive) Professional HU on my 2011 E90. It has bluetooth built in and no unit in the boot.

I have bought what i was told to be the USB connector and cable for my HU. I Connected it up directly to the back of the HU and powered on, but there is no option for USB in the audio menu, even with a USB key connected.

Does this need coding before the function is available?

If there's instructions on how to code this, i'm all ears. I've bought a cable with INPA and NCS etc so i can get to grips with doing it myself

Go to the coding subforum ask about 6fl

Go to the coding subforum ask about 6fl
Do a search for 6fl here and there.
It may be as simple as editing your rad file or idrive files
and turning on USB by changing the USB line to activ from nicht activ.

Thanks

After trawling through a few pages, it appears i have whats referred to as 6NF. There is phone prep installed in the armrest, but currently has a blanking plate on it, my phone connects via bluetooth built-into the HU, and the headunit has the round white USB connector on it.

My E90 was produced 04/2011 according to the VIN decoder, so that would theoretically mean MULF and all that is not a factor?

I've P/M'd my regional coder Stevens to ask for support, so thanks for the info CTUNA

After resorting to someone doing the coding for me, it appears the radio cannot be coded with NCS, as it requires a different cable to do the coding.

That's me buggered

Contact Makkan00 he has the cable I think

Contact Makkan00 he has the cable I think
and has also done them.
He also does stereo mods if you want to improve on the base stereo
system.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=704363

or Bimmertech Patrick charges 130 US plus a refundable cable
security deposit of 300 US or did a few months ago.
requires an ICOM A or B cable I think form 09 on.

you might have bit old coding files, this HU should allow coding using dcan cable without problems

Thats what i thought, but it generated an IFH error (of which the number i can't remember but it was the same one i got when i tried to get INPA working with the cable i bought). I've been told by the guy that did the coding for me that it requires a £300 cable that he doesn't have.
