Question 2015 435i HU Upgrade Possibilities?

So, I'm a brand new BMW owner, bought a 2015 435i last month with all the bells and whistles from a BMW Dealer. I just took it into the dealer for something and got a 2021 235i as a loaner, and man does that carplay blow my mind.

So I'm looking at what my options are for getting carplay into my BMW, and what I've been finding on google is confusing.

Specs:
2015 435i Convertible
Production Date 2015-01-15
Features:
508 Park Distance Control (pdc)
521 Rain Sensor
522 Xenon Light
524 Adaptive Headlights
534 Automatic Air Conditioning
544 Cruise Control With Braking Function
563 Lights Package
575 Additional 12v Power Socket
5AG Lane Change Warning
5AS Driving Assistant
5DL Surround View
5DS Luggage-compartment Emerg. Release
609 Navigation System Professional
610 Head Up Display
645 Radio Control Us
655 Satellite Radio
688 Harman/kardon Surround Sound System
697 Area-code 1
6AC Intelligent Emergency Call
6AE Teleservices
6AK Connecteddrive Services
6AM Real Time Traffic Information
6AP Remote Services

Based on what I've found online I'm reasonably certain that I have the NBT Evo ID4 package, and what I'd like to do is upgrade to the ID6. My end game is being able to have CarPlay for my media (it responds so much nicer than the bluetooth streaming in my BMW) and keep the BMW nav for the connectivity with the HUD and the like, as well as keeping all of the rest of the Assist features and Connectivity features.

So my concerns are thus...
1) Do I lose the onboard nav, remote access, ConnectedDrive, and all that if I stick an ID6 HU in here? BimmerTech said yes, other sources I've read online said no....
2) Does this void my warranty for anything? I've got the BMW Ultimate Care+ warranty through the dealer, and I don't want to screw that up.

If I put this in the wrong place or missed a sticky somewhere, I apologize.

Your car doesn’t have the NBT Evo ID4.
It has only the old NBT.
So it’s more complicated to retrofit an Evo ID6 + CarPlay.
Because of that it’s also more difficult to keep the Connecteddrive.
Maybe it’s recommended for you to buy a CarPlay Box or Display.

So I've come to find out (that it's the plain old NBT).

So what's the recommended avenue to be able to keep the BMW Navigation system (love that turn by turn on the HUD) AND have Carplay for easy connectivity?

Is an addon box (like the BimmerTech MMI) my only recourse here, or can I keep the BMW Nav with an ID6 upgrade and I just lose the remote lock and 'send addresses to the car from my app' features?

Welcome!

To enable AppleCar Play you need NBTEvo head unit ID5/ID6.

I suggest to visit https://www.codemybimmer.ca/product/...t-2016-models/.

Did you ask your dealer if your car has 3G connectivity and whether it will lose Connected Services in February 2022?

It's very likely because other BMW vehicles with 3G connectivity (including my other vehicle - 2015 X5) will be losing Connected Services due carrier decisions about 3G technology - which warrants a separate discussion. Your vehicle being a 2015 model year isn't eligible for 4G upgrade - a 99% certainty.

Once you install NBTEvo head unit, Connected Drive services will stop working because NBTEvo cannot connect to TCB 3G (telematics control unit) due to differences in wiring. But Connected Services will disappear anyway in a few months.

The options to retain Connected Services are more complex.

Thread worth reading to become more familiar with 3G being discontinued:

About warranty: it's unlikely that the NBTEvo head unit and anything connected to the new NBTEvo will be eligible for warranty repairs because this part was not designated as valid part for your VIN.

Might not be relevant to UK/EU (yet) as the notice was sent to US customers only as far as I can tell.
