The film should have a warranty separate from the shop. If you move to a new location, the film warranty doesn't become void. OP should contact the film manufacturer and explain his situation & request a referral to another installer.

I got XPEL Ultimate on my F87 front bumper for $600. 3 years later it still looks like new. No peeling or jagged edges. I don't know about STEK, but installing PPF is all about the installer. XPEL lists the G87 front bumper kit as the highest difficulty, so you need a pro.

People need to stop quoting prices from at least 3 years ago. Also, location/State/City plays a key role in pricing (you wont find anywhere doing an F87 front bumper for $600 here, and if you did, I would stay well away from that shop).

Prices are higher down here in South Florida than most. Of course, there is a premium for the quality shops as you get what you pay for.

This...and as long as they are authorized and the serial number on the roll matches what the shop purchased from the manufacturer.

I hate to say it but that’s a bad install. They probably did not prep it well and it’s lifting. I would ask for them to do the whole entire rear. Should it not cover the whole top of the bumper as well? It sucks that the edge is showing like that.

I had a tiny imperfection on my windshield tint that I could only see when I wear my shades at eye level. It bothered me enough I had it replaced and my installer did it for free. They could have argued who’s fault the imperfection was but they took responsibility for it and that’s what a business should do.

Btw just fyi my xpel ultimate fusion for front bumper only was $820 here in Los Angeles county area back in January.

Sorry Rob. I didn't think the price would go from $600 to $5000 in 3 years, but you could be correct. How much do you think a front or rear bra for a G87 should cost, since you seem to know? (NY/CT area)

Yeah NY is one of the most expensive places with work being don’t on these cars whether it be detailing or modifications to M cars or exotic cars not much shop competing such to be in NY.
The craziest part is that a buddy of mine said that’s cheap for the prices he has seen.

Adding my 2 cents.

I DIY full ppf'ed my G87, and I bulk installed (no-pre cut) as my goal was to have full coverage with no seams. I can tell you right now that a bulk install on our front and rear bumpers are absolutely painstakingly difficult. I would probably even go as far as saying nearly impossible to cover our front + rear bumpers with 100% coverage with one piece. I ended up having to make certain relief cuts/ seam cuts on the front and rear bumper install.

The exact areas you have in your photos are where stretching is required to get around those fat curves. Even with CORE pre-cut, if that installer tried to cover the whole rear bumper without seaming multiple pieces (i.e., using just one pre-cut piece for the whole bumper), they definitely had to stretch to get the film to lay down. Typically when you stretch aggressively and then trim before the film has time to bond, you will often see the film lift in those areas with high tension - especially when that area heats up in the sun. The areas with fingers that are difficult to get to stay down typically lift back up eventually, even if you are able to successfully lay it flat after working it.

My suggestion is to ask the installer to re-install the bumper again, but I would assume the results from this installer would be the same if they use the same approach as this initial install. As an alternative, they can trim back the edge where you are seeing multiple fingers & lift, but it may not be an acceptable solution for you to lose even more film coverage for what you paid for.

Unfortunately, our G87 bumpers are extremely difficult for bulk install (and fairly new to installers) and it's so rare to see a perfectly executed PPF install. If I were you, a re-install would be warranted here by the installer. If they are using just one piece bulk install on the rear bumper, maybe see if it is possible for them to pre-cut into multiple pieces to seam together. I've seen better success in that method overall, and if the top portion starts to lift/peel again, they only have to replace one piece instead of the whole bumper.

The $5k is for the entire car minus the roof.

For comparison, down here, wholesale cost for the G87 front bumper in Xpel Ultimate is $850.

Okay, after re-reading the thread, I realize now I missed some of the content since the OP scattered the info in different posts. I misinterpreted it thinking it cost him $5000 for the clear bra per the thread title.

$5000 for the whole car is the going rate in NYC I guess, but for that price, I would expect it to be perfect.

I have a friend 10 miles away with a 2024 G87. He got PPF on the front bumper, hood, mirror caps, rocker panels to the rear arches, and had the entire car ceramic coated for $4000. He showed me the job they did and it's perfect.

No worries, all good. I have to go pull my receipts to see what I paid for paint correction, ppf and ceramic coating. I know it was between $5k - $6K (includes ceramic coating on Vissen rims)

The cut off and lines are terrible. I hope they didn't cut into your paint. I wouldn't let them touch it again. It is obvious that no one there can do this job. If the edge is not tucked in, you need to seal it with a little heat so they dont lift like this.

I took my car back into my PPF shop yesterday as I noticed 2 small bubbles, and 1 small area peeling back at a seam. All this was on the front bumper. The bubbles were most likely there since install but I just noticed recently. The shop owner says the peeling back part was most likely from a car wash. The touchless wash I go to has a power-washing wand thing that gets really close to front end so guessing that was the cause. Will be handwashing in the warmer months here in MN but will need to go try some different touchless places to find a safer one.

I hand wash my vehicle only, waterless car wash from chemical guys haven’t used it in the vehicle yet but that for me would be expected since I have not had the vehicle each time I get it back from the shop no longer than A day before noticing the rear bumper peeeling or as the photos I attached to the original post shows.

Our pair of M240i and M2 have not and ever will ever see any type of automated car wash facility.
It’s a disaster in waiting for PPF and ceramic coated cars.

All of course IMO

IMO even without PPF on the vehicle, I will only hand wash these vehicle. N I use the Kirkland microfiber hand towels they only get 1 use before tossing which I was told I could machine wash n reuse.😂
Also when I pull up to a gas station(Costco premium is cheap 3.90 last time is was there) I have a dedicated hand towel same Kirkland one but that I place between the body n the gas port because of fuel will run on this pain job n now PPF

They didn’t cut the paint. I attached the photos after they completed it.
