I got an email responce from "Birds" yesterday. I was interested in the remap information and asked if the current drive train can cope with the power increase etc

Dear Chris,

Yes, the standard drivetrain can cope with the additional power and
torque. You will note that Hartge do not excede the manufacturers stated
power and torque limits for any vehicle. Clearly, to do so would be
asking for trouble, so they don't!

As regards warranty, BMW cannot and do not invalidate warranty when
"non-approved" parts have nbeen installed into the car. However, they
obviously reserve a right to reject a claim where non BMW Approved parts
have caused or contributed to a failure of a BMW part.

All Hartge conversions in the UK are covered for both the failure of
the conversion components and for any damage to a BMW part due to the
performance of the conversion. In your case, provided the conversion is
carried out before the vehicle is 6 months old, Hartge see this as a
"New" car, and warranty cover will extend for the full period of the
Manufacturers warranty.
Hope this meets with your approval.

Regards, Kevin Bird.
