I haven't purchased a new car in decades and have never ordered one. Did you guys who ordered a car pay close to the build price on-line? Is it worth shopping around dealers before ordering?

I just ordered my M240I (first time buyer; been driving a 2005 Camry for the last 15 years) and ended up paying MSRP (0.9% APR with 1500 manufacturer discount). Not sure if I should have tried for more or not but didn't want to lose the build slot. I'm scheduled for production in early October! Curious how negotiations went for other people.

Usually yes; BUT not in today's market due to high used car prices and low supply of new Vehicles due to Factory backlog & Chip shortage. Most if not all BMW dealers are selling all their vehicles at MSRP for first time in almost forever.

I ordered new 230i at MSRP 10 days ago. When I ordered my new '18 230i in Dec 2017 I received $2.8k discount from dealer + BMW all weather mats & Trunk mat and $3k discount financing thru BMW Finance. MSRP was 45.6k and paid 39.8k... I sure wish but....

World has changed since Covid-19... urgh

I received a similar discount, around 6k, on my '18 m240i.

Luckily I am not in a rush. I am going to buy out my lease since there is a lot of equity and sell it. then share my wife's car (she takes the train to work) until things calm down

i hear you Saab Story; I sold my 230i 3 months ago & semi-regret it so placed G42 order

Received good $$ for my 230i via private sale but BMW 2 series is a niche vehicle unlike the 3/4 series or X-3/5 SUVs. Therefore decided not to wait until a 2nd or 3rd buyer showed up if ever... ha-ha

I'm waiting for the RWD M240i; Thundernight/Tacora, Premium, Cooling/HP Tire, and H-K. This all assumes sunroof deletion is possible.

20+ year 3 series owner looking to make the switch, obviously will have to wait to see how this car drives before making a final decision but quick question - BMW loves torturing us and it looks like the base 230i LED headlights look like they don't have the LED daylight signature seen in all the m240 promos. Any real life photos of the ghetto headlights? I bet they have piss poor light output as well. Love to see a side by side comparison.

I like custom ordering stripper cars (non metallic, m sport+track handling) and really don't want to get stuck with all the BS in the premium package and the extra weight just to be able to see at night.

And yes, the fact that the live cockpit pro is not standard is mind boggling in 2021.

Ordered my 230i M Sport this week

Okay, here's my build, and it's easy to summarize...only M bits, nothing else. Ordered it this week! I don't usually get the first batch of cars off the line of a new model, but I made an exception here.

230i
M Sport Trim
Alpine White
Cognac SensaTec
Dynamic Handling Pkg (Blue calipers)
Moonroof Delete

I wanted a low-content (for weight and price) great handling sport coupe. The M Sport trim automatically includes the Convenience Pkg, but again, I deleted that moonroof. The HiFi stereo seems enough, so I didn't even get the HK upgrade...I'm not a stereo guy anyway. Only mods will be a tire/wheel upgrade with 245/35-19 (an OE size for M240 front upgrade) square set up, and probably a light Dinan tune (but later after motor is broken in).

I'll post updates on delivery times/schedule...and pix when delivered.

So far it is not available to delete...that was a big need for me. I ordered a 230i for that and other reasons. I'm with you on the RWD too.

This is exactly what i want except red calipers and black sensatec but i have to add the live cockpit pro for $900 because i'm so used to seeing the speed digitally. (weird pet peeve i need to have) Do you know if the standard (non live-cockpit pro) dash shows digital speed?

The standard LED headlights also do not have the front signature daylight LED which really changes the look of the car- anyone have pics to compare? I just cant justify the added expense/weight of the premium package just to get that though...wish it was a stand alone option.

Oh, I went back and forth on the red/blue caliper color. I don't know much about the standard cockpit...pix of interior show analog gauges, but IDK if there's a secondary digital display for speed.

Even my F22 can do this on the little screen in the middle. I use it when I drive into Canada because it will also convert to metric...

Awesome, i can stick with the standard dash. Now all we need to do is a comparison of the 230i standard LED headlights vs adaptive LED's with the signature daylight design.

First update...Order went into production on 9/24 after being placed three days prior. Dealer says, for this build, the standard 6-8 weeks expected for delivery (we'll see)...chip shortage be damned!! I'm tracking it on MyBMW, of course.

I like the enthusiast build! I am looking at the 240 and may be ordering.

I have been looking at used 240's with a manual but the pickings are slim and the prices are nuts. I had a 135i years ago as a lease vehicle and loved driving it.

I love the looks of the G42...congrats!

Looking to order a loaded Blue with Red interior M240i XDrive to replace my 2021 530i M Sport. I really want to see it in person first, it looks like a direct copy of a 3/4 Series interior with different door cards. For $57k as I want it that’s $13k less than the m440i I looked at. Just makes me wonder if I’m missing something? Heck even adaptive Dampers and M sport rear diff is standard.

Edit - they took off Sirius XM and HD radio on the builds for chip shortages. That’s something I don’t want to go without so I’ll hold off ordering.

Besides the temporary radio stuff you mentioned, the only big difference from the M440i is the size as the 2er is considerably shorter and a bit lighter. You also can't option some lux features such as ventilated seats or power operated trunk. Also no mild hybrid as in the 440.

None of those bother me plus I love smaller cars so the 2er is perfect for me I'm waiting until Jan to order so it will come spring 2022. Hopefully the situation doesn't get worse by then lol

There are several options. By default, the speedo (or other) disappears when you use navigation, but you can bring it back.

I placed my build a few weeks ago but my dealer doesn't yet have any more allocations and probably won't until November, but that's fine because I'd rather continue to have my G01 for as much of the winter as possible.

I pretty just said "yes" as I went through the configurator.

• Thundernight Metallic Paint
• Oyster Vernasca Leather Interior
• Shadowline Package
• 19" M Double-spoke jet black wheels, style 791M
• Harman Kardon surround sound system
• Premium Package
• Remote Engine Start
• Active Cruise Control
• Parking assistant package + Drive Recorder

I'm incredibly excited, this will be my 3rd BMW but my first ordered. I figured if I was going to do it, I might as well go as all out as possible.
