Stop Sale

just heard from my CA that my PCD will “have to be rescheduled” due to stop sale. Apparently the back up camera isn’t working. I was scheduled to fly out tomorrow (Wed Sept 28) for PCD on Thursday September 29. CA tells me he has two other stop sales due to back up camera not working (and not 2-series either)…so frustrating.

Same. CA said he doesn't foresee too much of an issue… he's still taking mine to get PPF on Thursday. Just feel a little weird paying for that PPF on a car I don't officially own!

Talked to GM - it has something to with the voltage going to reverse camera as well as headlights. So far, they think its a software patch. However it may be a hardware issue as well. Either way, BMW won't release the car until it's updated - could be tomorrow...could be ??? Sounds like a recall will be on tap for those lucky enough to be driving vs waiting

My SA said it might take until November to fix but hopefully it will be sooner.

I got a call from my CA at 8 last night letting me know I wouldn't be able to take my car home from PCD which was heartbreaking news. I am waiting on his resolution right now as he is talking with his area manager about some type of compensation for the delay as I have already paid and signed for the car.

Others that are do PCD what are your feelings on this? Obviously if you were close to your PCD date you have already done the paperwork/money portion and now you cannot take your car home for who knows how long.

Man this really sucks to hear. Lucky for me I found one at a dealer, called that same second and the car just got backed out on and was already sitting at the dealer. Did all the paperwork online that night and was driving the car back home next Morning. All and all less than a 20 hours process from seeing the car online to having it in my garage. I did have one on order since January and was supposed to get it around now but didn't wanna wait!

I'm doing PCD and I'm glad I found this out now rather than closer to delivery. It really sucks for you all that had plans in place and all that and hopefully they can do something for you. For me, it's just a longer wait but I hadn't signed any paperwork or anything yet so it's much less impact.

I was told about the stop-sale/stop-delivery 30 mins before my pick up. To say the least I was livid especially because the trade-in of my other car was done the night before. Literally left me stranded at the dealership with no loaners available, and honestly a pretty cold shoulder from the dealership (BMW Toronto). Won't be doing any of my after-care with them unless they do some decent customer service for once. I was given very few options and ended up signing for the car for the max 10-day ahead of time.

Here's the awesome thing about that - if the car is fixed before the 10-days, still can't pick it up, if it's not fixed after 10-days, I still begin making payments on the car.

After Uber-ing home and calling BMW Canada I received a call from back from a manager who said they can't help me now, but once the car is in my possession they will back track and calculate a compensation package. No idea what that entails but I hope they at least reimburse the payments and interest for the time lost.

Yeah if this was the case I would feel better. I am starting my road trip down with my brother tonight as my date for PCD was this Friday. I have been talking with my CA and they definitely seem they are working to make something work for all parties. Its just tough to stomach for me as I cut a check for the car and signed for it the 19th of September and now I won't have it for another few weeks at the minimum it looks like. But I know people have much bigger problems in the world though, so just need to keep it all in perspective. Hope you PCD goes smooth!

Sorry to hear that! That is not a good way to start the ownership experience. From other posts/threads I have read through they are usually more than fair with compensating for issues like this. I hope yours works out that way as well.

It must be nice to have a CA that keeps you informed

I haven’t heard from mine since I placed the order in April

He has not been the best tbh. He was always touting his aftersales service and he seems to be more attentive now that the car is paid for so at least it wasn't all BS. Hopefully it continues through any other problems. Does yours not respond? Or is he just not reaching out with any info/updates?

For those with the stop sale, does it show on this site when you put in your VIN?

I believe the issue has to do with the standard backup camera only regardless of the parking assist package presence or not

I do not, but as already noted I believe this is for standard option camera.

This is the verbiage that my advisor got about the stop sale. Trying to figure out if I can still trade in my car and purchase the m240 and just get a loaner in the meantime.

SITUATION

BMW AG has issued a Delivery Stop (effective September 23, 2022) on certain Model Year 2022 - 2023 BMW vehicles that were produced between August 24, 2021 and September 24, 2022.

This delivery stop was originally called “eDrive Zones” but we have changed the title to" Rearview Camera". The issue involves the rearview camera which may not display on the CID when going into reverse.

Software is expected to be available in November but timing is subject to change. Until the manufacturing plants are updated, VINs will be added on a daily basis.

Do not deliver to a customer, a New, Certified Pre-Owned or Used vehicle subject to a Delivery Stop, until the vehicle is repaired. Do not use or sell replacement equipment/parts subject to a Delivery Stop.

thank you hamenfirstblood
so from this we should understand that: are ALL 2 series vehicles that were produced between August 24, 2021 and September 24, 2022 affected by this issue or only certain ones of the 2 series models ?

It's not necessarily just about 2-series cars, it says "certain Model Year 2022 - 2023 BMW vehicles"
