I feel there are no longer any paved roads in the Bay Area...where y'all go-to route?

I like to get coffee in Stinson beach and a pastry at Gold cost in Duncans Mill. Seems like well paved roads, sometimes grab a burger at Alice’s in woodside

If you haven’t yet, try the Porsche Roads app. It’s not just for Porsche drivers but it has driving routes all around the country and will also use AI to make you a route that suits what you are looking for.
I have been using it and it’s pretty good! |

This was some years ago. Motorcycle riders and bike riders were starting to discover this road. 92 over to 1 then south, or 17 to 1 then north, are good drives. 9 from Saratoga south to 35 or even beyond into Santa Cruz is another good drive. Almaden Expressway south to McKean Road is (used to be) a good drive. Or stay on the Expressway until it turns to Almaden Road and continues to Hicks Road. In East San Jose Mt. Hamilton Road is a nice drive. Past Mt. Hamilton you can continue on and then follow it east to I5. Or get on Mines Road which comes out in Livermore. Also when I lived in Livermore I liked Patterson Pass Road and Tesla Road. North on Vasco Road was a nice drive. Or east on Altamont Pass Road. |

I fully agree it's hard to find some good clean roads around here in the bay area to really enjoy. Many are pretty torn up & poorly maintained to enjoy much.

CA-9, 35, and 84 in Santa Cruz mountains are my favorite roads for weekend morning. On 35-84 crossroad, you can stop at Alice's for breakfast/coffee. It's a popular spot for car lovers and you will often see rare classics and super cars. My usual drive is to start from Saratoga downtown, drive up hills on CA-9, make a right turn at CA-35, make left at CA-84 to get to the PCH-1, go south or north depending on your final destination. You can easily spend 2-3 hours with a great view everywhere.

I spent years in Orange county, and now in Bay Area, I totally agree, can't wait to get out. Everytime I drive on 101, I start to think about my move out plan fr lol my M2 would agree I believe.

I moved 40 miles east of the Bay Area into the valley. It doesn't have the luxuries of the Bay Area but its quiet and peaceful and I'm still a short drive away from the craziness of the Bay if I ever want it lol.
I work from home so it fits my lifestyle pretty well. |

Came back to CA in early 2003. Lived in Dublin CA for a year then moved to Livermore. Worked in Hayward CA. Fortunately my job allowed me flex time so I could leave towards the end of the morning rush hour and miss the worst of the traffic. And a late start meant a late departure from work so I missed the worst of the evening commute, too. Livermore was nice. A bit warmer than the bay area but cars and apartment were A/C'd. |

I lived in Redwood City for many years, right off Woodside Road (aka California 84) and nothing could beat a blast up 84, into the mountains past Skyline Blvd, and out to San Gregorio Beach. One of the things I really love about that road is there are many very curvy stretches with great visibility - i.e. you can see ahead of you around the turns, allowing swift & safe driving. Also many blind curves in other parts of the route. Overall an incredible drive.

I moved out a few years back, and I remember going up to the Lick observatory when I got my F80, lots of twisties. HWY 1 is a nice scenic drive. Not sure how it is now, but I remember nice roads can get crowded which ruins the experience.

Some surprisingly good roads is actually up to Portola Valley. I dont know the actual road numbers/names there but you can essentially get to Alice's from the back way there or you can take a drive into the mountains where a lot of the communities are and plenty of the roads there are nice long open roads with a few long sweepers. Havnt explored it a ton, but i did a test drive in a 981 Boxster GTS over there and it was great.

Embarked on a scenic adventure down CA-9, CA-35, CA-84, and PCH-1. Woke up at the crack of dawn, spent three hours dodging slow-moving traffic, and realized my Honda CRV companion was auditioning for a snail impersonation contest. Attempting to overtake was like trying to pass a tortoise in a traffic jam. On the bright side, my car now identifies as a zen meditation pod. #NeedForSpeed #CruisingAtSnailPace 🚗🐌
