M2 is a great car but so does 718 GT4. However, if Prosche's higher trims one are out of your financial comfort zone, definitely get the M2. Base model Prosche are no where close to M car in my opinion.

Agree. I’m also thinking the base 718 is very similiar to my tuned TT. The M2 is a completely diff car

I totally agree as well. After my GT4 I was looking at potentially jumping back in a Porsche and my dealership offered me a Cayman S at MSRP. It was tempting but with all options still came out 15k more than a fully loaded with M performance parts M2. I decided the M2 would be the better car so here I am.

Base 718 will depreciate much faster than the G87. 4-cylinder Porsches are best bought used.
Def disagree with this. As an example, the 4 cylinder 18/19 GTSs were languishing unsold on NEW lots now good ones command $75k. Same with 991.2 Ts. I KICK myself for not buying a new 2019 911T at $98k (or less) |

They could throw a little more power at 'em(911 T)..at least 420hp would be nice. It still competes based on the layout.

Guys def agree look at the final sales stats for real numbers but when you pour thru cars.com NOBODY is calling 4 cylinder 718s good value. Shop 19+ here

991.2 T isn't a 4-cylinder, nor is it a 718.
I mentioned the 991.2T as my fav and what I’ll judge all purchases by. I can’t afford a Peachey CPO 911T (per my wife) |

I’d only consider a 718 in GTS/GT4 variant Theres just too much value in the G8X platform. It’s tough to swallow P Car pricing .. if it’s not something special.

Porsche pricing has become a joke. Back when the base price started where the loaded M3 sort of stopped, it made sense. But now it’s $130k for a manual 911 v $100k for a loaded M3 manual (incl. carbon pack, carbon ceramics, carbon buckets, etc). I put in a deposit when I had my M3 comp x drive, and when I test drove one I just wasn’t impressed with the base 911. The S or GTS are more in-line with an M3. And the quality of the interior is not there either imo. The 718 is even worse. $110k for a GTS. SMH. The benefit is less depreciation, unless you actually drive the car.

not to mention dealerships are now selling the M4 at under MSRP. So for a fully loaded M4, you can get that for around 80k vs a similarly loaded Porsche.

Are they discounting the M3? I rank them first to third m2 m3 m4
My wife really likes the idrive and I’m worried she’ll get wind of a 2026 idrive g87, delaying my fun car yet another year. |

Unless you go for GTS 4.0, you will be better off with M2. There is a probably $30K+ difference between GTS4.0 and M2 when similarly equipped. GTS4.0 is substantially better 'sport' car in every aspects. However, if you are looking for daily drive, M2 will be much better for comfort, space, etc.

How do you figure that the GTS is a better sports car?

I mean I think it's still pretty subjective, but the GTS is a Sports car. The M2 is a Sports coupe. The GTS is purpose built to offer you the best driving experience it can. The M2 gives you the best sporty experience it can while still being practical enough to do daily duty and be comfy enough if you need it to be.
I Personally also believe the 718 GTS 4.0 is the superior sports car. But end of the day its all personal preference. |

I have a 718 Spyder. Similar performance but a bit more sports-tuned than the GTS4.0. It's amazing to find out that my butt can actually sense the road conditions, but I can't see myself doing daily. After a few hours of driving, your body gets enough fatigue for a day.

Now, if you don’t want any of these options, I agree, but anyone that has a T would have optioned these on an S. One additonal data point. Porsche allocations are weird, if you want a 911 you sometimes have to take what’s offered otherwise you’ll be waiting forever if you don’t get lucky. T’s have been easy to come by. S are nearly impossible. GTS are somewhat easy too, but that’s a significant price increase vs T. |

Until they make the 992.2 GTS NA. I’m hearing that people are canceling their GT3 allocation requests and switching to the GTS. It’s only going to get crazier out there. I’ve given up on owning a 911. And you’re right about price deltas and options on T v S. Porsche needs to do more for entry-level enthusiasts. It shouldn’t be Aston Martin money to get a manual 911.

I remember pre-covid, you could easily get a new 911 with a manual for 85k. Now you're lucky if you can spend $140k, and it's not like the car has gotten that much better. How times have changed.
