Stop start has to be one of the biggest load of crap ever invented. I just couldn’t help thinking of all the extra strain put on the battery and starter motor if I had it. |

Yeah everyone says that who doesn't have it. Never done a starter motor on an N47 yet. They really got it right when they beefed up that starter motor. As for the battery, they easily last 10 years providing they don't get abused and left discharged, like all lead acid batteries.

I've had stop start on multiple cars and it usually gets turned off, on my Golf R DSG it was overly intrusive and would cut the engine out slowing down for speed bumps or parking, at least on my wife's manual Golf diesel it only kicks in if you put it in neutral and release the clutch, so you can control when it does it.

I had it once on a new Kia Sportage a few years ago. Hated it. Made no discernible difference to the fuel economy so just seemed like a pointless way to ruin your starter motor and battery quicker.
