So uhm...shipping blocks
Ever since I took delivery of the car I feel the ride is a tad bit harsh. I've seen posts about dealers forgetting to remove shipping blocks during PDI and had some suspicions but went like "nah it's probably just how M cars ride" and never checked it.
Today I had my car at a shop installing camber plates and M HAS kit, and they found out, out of 4 corners, the FL suspension still had shipping blocks in it. So the dealer did all but forgot to remove ONE set of shipping blocks Anyway, attached picture of them. It's atrocious that things like this keep happening. |

Same thing on my G87. Couldn't understand why ride in comfort was so damn harsh. Jolting even. Questioning my purchase.
Sure enough, both rear struts had 2 blue shipping blocks still in place at delivery. My nephew, master tech for BMW, said it happens all the time. He has found countless blocks on all models during suspension repairs. Owners never knew. Brought up my displeasure with sales manager at dealer...you know how that went. |

Any examples of folks who had the HAS kit port-installed and still had shipping blocks on their car?

It’s clearly pretty common. My local store had a red one which I have driven that reportedly was driven multiple times…people who drove it experienced wheelhop, and it was driven at reasonable speed, and the car still had the blocks in place
BMW needs to put out a memorandum to all their dealerships to get their shit together and quit overlooking things like this which really makes a bad impression to the overall brand experience And also for clear liability reasons

Same goes for my keys. Only the technician has access to my keys. Nobody else in the dealership can drive my m car and I have to be present on any drives accordingly And they have a signed around agreement in PDF form in my service profile so it’s clear as day

Dangit. My car was up on a lift last week and I didn't think to check for these blocks. I assume they are not there but this thread has me a little paranoid. Anyone have any luck checking for these without lifting the car up?

It's a pretty tight squeeze. Poking around with the end of a wrench it doesn't feel like blocks are in there but I can't get an angle to move the sleeve up to see for sure. Next time it's up on a lift I will take a look.
