E93 boot soft close not working

Hi All,

come to my car this morning, opened the boot as normal, then when coming to close it, i noticed the normal motor noise you hear for the soft close didn't happen, and won't.

The boot latches shut but it does not pull closed at all.

Ive seen there has been a couple of these posts however no conclusion, has anyone had this and solved it? The constant beeping to say my boot is open is driving me nuts after one day.

2011 if it makes any difference.

thank you

You will likely find the latches require replacing. Not a cheap job I'm afraid.

The one I saw popped and locked/unlocked just wouldn't soft close. I believe part of the latches fail so it's just the soft close function that doesn't work.

I'll try and find a copy of the invoice.

I had this problem on my 57 plate E93, boot lid motors did not power closed and the boot interior lights did not work.
I took the latch mechanism out of the boot lid and found a broken wire on one of the mirco switches re-soldered the wire works perfect now.

I found in the end that one of the switches was faulty on the mechanism, there is one on each side and work together, one was failing so I got it bridged and working fine now as a temp fix, however a new switch is required ultimately although seem hard to find without buying the whole lot illustrated above

Boom! You made me save time and money, exactly same spot 2 wires were broken. Real magic as it also fixed the light inside the boot! (Never worked since I own the car/ 2 years). About the curve where the wire snapped I noticed that when the soft close mechanism is activated the 3 wire sleeve rub there , the latter plus change of temperatures making it bridle might have lead to the same issue.

Cheers again!

Just to add as it might help someone else:
I was redirected towards this thread on the topic:
https://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1492645

To add to this:it seems that we all get the wire snap more or less at same spot, it looks to me that it's this white wire housing piece is the culprit; while in movement it enter incontact with the the frame and might bend the wires inside.. anyway see attached soldered plus small shrink sleeves, Ialso cut a part of that white housing, I hesitate about attaching them together or not, it seems that thinner gives more room for the cable.

Hi All, I hope someone here can help me. My boot lid on the E93 was working fine till one day I went to open it and it never opened. So I changed the switch outside but no luck, I then changed the passive go module but no luck, I then got another complete mechanism but still no luck. I checked all the wiring and seems fine. I was told the wires going into the JBBF might have an issue so I changed that over but still no luck. It will soft close without any issues but it will not open at all. Any help will be appreciated, just to let everyone know, I have plugged ISTA and did the test to see if the signals are working, so when i press the the unlock on the rear boot switch, it says PRESSED on ISTA. I can release the boot bit via ISTA no problem. I think the output signal is not going past the JBBF. I have updated the JBBF via Winkfp.
