DIY DSSR for xDrive?

Hey guys so I've recently learned no one makes a DSSR for xDrive models. The concept of a DSSR seems simple enough though. Could I just add a plate to the other side?

I was thinking about modeling a jig so I can drill into the factory rod pins. I would use a metal insert inside the jig so the drill bit doesn't chew through the jig itself.

Then tap the holes and either use a bolt with loctite or install a stud (with loctite in the drilled hole) to use with a nyloc nut. That way I can leave a very small clearance between the shifter joint and the "DSSR" to allow free movement but minimal play

The "plate" would just be cut from sheet metal.

Thoughts?

Below is not to scale and was a very quick model I drew for concept
