Best Tyre Fitters and Wheel Alignment Near You!

Hello Everyone,

Having already posted asking if anyone knew of any good tyre fitters in Leeds I've continued looking and have struggled to find a central thread/sticky/forum with everyones reviews and recommendations for a good tyre fitting place and/or place that does good wheel alignment/tracking.

Any chance you could add to this thread a fitter you would recommend near you, I can travel and would be happy to do so if it meant a good job.

Tyre fitter name:
Location:
Contact details or website link:
Wheel Alignment yes/no:
Fit tyres not purchased from them yes/no:
Would you recommend yes/no and reason:

Many thanks

Hawleys in Sheffield are very good. Especially their main depot on Bridge Street. Consistantly beat all online prices for me too.

Near me? I don't know.
I have a company account with ATS so had always used them, normally Park Royal branch (local to the office) or St Neots branch (local to home).

That was until they damaged both rear rims on changing the tyres last time.

This time around I had ATS supply me the tyres and took them to Wheels in Motion/blackboots in Buckinghamshire who charged me £47.00 to fit my tyres.

That includes using a Boss "touch less" fitting system (8 in the country and they own 2 of them) balancing, valves and Nitrogen filled. Perfect job and I will now be a customer for life.

Hi

I've used drury lane garage in the past they have a 4 wheel alignment hunter system too, spot on.

Google - drury lane garage

It's in Manchester not too far for you

Hey,

Great stuff so far guys, keep all the recommendations coming, nice to have lots of different ones, however I've checked my other thread and not a single suggestion in Leeds, surely they can't all be bad haha...

On a separate note what's special about the hunter system? Is there anything I should look for when getting wheels aligned? And roughly how long should it take to get all four wheels aligned? And what about cost?

Many thanks

I had such a bad experience with them it was unbelievable. They were so expensive, WIM were shocked, and then they didn't even set up my car right.

I gave up after 2 opportunities and went straight to wheels in motion who did it bang on instantly. Worth the 4 hour drive for me.

For Sheffield Autodynamics. Genuine people who go out of their way to look after the alloys. You stand next to the fitter and watch him do it from a meter away. I see no reason to do this anymore as I now trust them with my wheels.

Try www.alignmycar.co.uk for places which use the Hunter equipment.

I was once quoted £300 for a KDS at a main dealer, an Indy with a Hunter machine would only be about £100 I'd think.

It's expensive gear though so I can understand the high price as the payback period must be quite long as 95% of drivers will be naive to the benefits.

In surrey I would say this guy

Tyre fitter name: Martin @ Merrow Tyres
Location: Farnham Surrey
Contact details or website link: http://www.merrow-tyres.co.uk/
Wheel Alignment yes/no: YES
Fit tyres not purchased from them yes/no: YES
Would you recommend yes/no and reason: YES
Guy is ex BMW mechanic runs the place and knows his stuff. A keen ringer so knows about cars and handling and knows how to setup cars properly. Not mention well prices tyres and good quality work. Came from a friends recommendation and I can see why

Ok thanks for the costings, I wasn't aware there were different machines, the reason I've also asked about alignment is that at my m.o.t I was told I had uneven wear on turanza er300, and as I'm changing all four wheels to winters thought be a good time to get alignment checked and done, what do u think? Tyre related or after two years of ownership and pot holes a good time to do it?

Sheffield the place with hunter is autodynamic s but they're pretty inexperienecd.

For up North you can use Wakefield dealer for the KDS, they have a one off price of £120 all in inc all adjustments etc etc..Lincoln will price match as will Sheffield.

I have not had great experiences with alignment here in Hampshire. But I have heard very good things about Micheldever tyres near Winchester, and will try them next.

As for tyre fitting - Event tyres. They come to your home/office, quote a keen price, and fitted 4 Contis without marking my alloys. Recommended.

Also recommend Tyreshops off junction 9 of the M27 (Whiteley) - very competent.

Mike.

Do event Tyres come out and fit Tyres not purchased from them? I have my winters waiting to be fitted.

Also what do you all look for from your tyre fitter? What would you say qualifies someone to be a good tyre fitter? Is it cost? Not damaging alloys? Not damaging car? Customer experience? As many don't charge much to fit.
