I pay around $650 a year at Geico, with $1k deductible collision. Excellent rate for a performance car. 2 reasons: I'm "well over 40 yrs old" and I have a stellar driving record, knock wood (because I am very aware, careful, and watchful when I do wild speed stunts in my car)

Anyone having trouble adding VIN number to their insurance policy online? I am trying to add the '23 m240i rwd, but the insurance site is saying that the VIN prefix is different.

Are you with Progressive? Mine said that too but I called them and they said it was fine.

Yea I am actually. Calling them fixed it for you? I will have to do that then. Could I ask what rate you got?

Well, I never actually fixed anything. I just asked them to confirm that the VIN I put was valid and they said yes.

And I can tell you what rate I got but unless you live in NC, we're probably not going to be the same. I pay $700 every six months.

29 y/o, Colorado, USAA, $2200/yr with 500/500 deductible and accident forgiveness. Cheaper to insure than my prior RS5 and Camaro 2SS. Lol.

Interesting insurance rates for a 23 M240i. The wife of 36 years likes the M240i, we have 6 vehicles in our household that I insure through USAA. I have been with them for over 32 years. I have a 2018 M5 (F90) insured and our 6-month premium is $864.76 for the M5, adding the M240i the 6-month premium would be $859.47. A difference of $5.29 if one were looking to insure a M5 or M240i, LOL. No accidents or tickets. Just for comparison, I used a VIN for a 2023 C8 Corvette convertible 3LT with a MSRP of 98k, 6-month premium is $710.54 with the same coverage.

What you need to do is find an independent insurance broker to compare rates for you. That’s the best way to find it less expensive. Plus, save a separate fund for your deductible and increase it to $1000. That way you have the cash to fix anything below it, you have less expensive rates, and you can save the rest for mods on your car!!!!

It is not about the cost but how the M240i is only $5.29 cheaper to insure then my M5 that cost $124k new in 2018 and has 600hp. I would say over the past 6 years I have seen my premiums rise at USAA. I have contacted other insurance providers and the only one that was cheaper was CostCo (Connect insurance) but they would not insure my motorcycle (18 BMW R1200GSA) and my home owners insurance was higher with Connect. USAA was still cheaper when considering the total cost (house and vehicles).

I completely understand. Each company has a particular “product” that they put out to target certain markets and the only way you’ll get the best rate is to leave and come back. Find a Safeco agent(not that you will go with Safeco) and that will tell you they are an independent. Insurance is a scam to me for the most part so the least I can pay is the direction I go. There is one company I will never contact and that’s Allstate. They’re notorious for non-renewing policies or not paying out for them due to loop holes. They actually lost their license for awhile in FL because of this. Right now my cars are with Main Street America and my house is with Electric. For your motorcycle there’s quite a few that target them, Progressive, Foremost, Geico, and American Modern to name a few.

Through Progressive, I'm paying $1250/yr for 250/500/250, $500 deductible. I've had them for 5 years.

Always heard good things about USAA. Wish I could qualify for it.

Who is your provider? I am seeing similar rates in Denver - for better or worse

Usaa used to be better back in the day because they would only ensure E7 and above. Over the years they have added all military and now families so the rates have gone up. I bank with them but it's been quite a while since I have had insurance with them. Remember the last quote I got from them in 2010 for a 91 5 series in germany was almost 500 euro a month to insure. Went with a local company in Germany and only paid 37 euro a month for the same coverages.
