Lowered M240i xDrive on MSS Springs

Hey guys!

We visited the guys down at Evolve Automotive a few weeks back to have some lowering springs installed. However these springs aren't your usual spring kit.

For those not aware of MSS Automotive, they're fairly new to the market and have designed a new adjustable lower spring that offers a much more compliant ride than you'll find with the traditional lowering spring, in addition with the added benefit of height adjustability.

We've made a video on them here:

Added 17mm spacers to the front and 12mm to the rear and now we just need to hug the rubber

***EDIT 2***
Just watched the video! (Purchased just based on the pictures haha) Jack@AUTOID my Ig is Jdm240i let me know if it’s possible to expedite that order. Gotta stunt on people for the spring meets here

We have these here in Australia and I’ve personally had them on 3 cars 2 with outstanding results. So please tell me did you use the stock G80 kit with the same PU seats? Was there any modification needed to the kit? Did you need to fit coil silencers you yours as there has been some issues with squeaking on the front springs. Hands down I think these are amazing springs. On an RS3 these improved the ride quality, handling and stance. If it keeps the same ride quality alone that would be good enough

It's all relative. Compared to coil-over they're good value. Compared to a standard lowering spring, could be considered expensive. But the ride quality is so much better than a normal lowering spring. Like, noticeably better.

This kit is the same thats used on the G20 3 Series. No modifications necessary. This is literally plug'n'play G20 kit. No issues with squeaking as of yet, we didn't fit the silencers.

Thanks for the info Jack. I'd also have to comment on value, they are worth everything you pay for these, also probably worth a mention the springs are made by Eibach to the specifications for MSS Engineers and are excellent quality. Many here fit them to X3M and X4M without lowering just to give a more compliant ride
I'll be putting a set on mine

Not a fan of changing the spring rate on electronically-controlled adaptive suspensions. I'll be curious about a long term update.

Most mods will likely have some ramifications down the track, but to reply to the adaptive suspensions point I did have long term 2 x Audi RS cars with mag ride both fitted with MSS HAS and there was a big improvement in ride quality, handling and stance in both. Long term there was no noticeable consequence on suspension, long term on a Supercharged E92 M2 lowering springs degraded the dampers themselves but that was over 5 years and not a major financial impact
Probably fair to say that other mods like tuning, supercharging and many others would have far greater consequences.
Unfortunately all the cars we love these days seem to come from factory with wheels that don’t have enough poke and suspension that has huge arch gaps.

There’s an interesting link here from Evolve automotive on the effects of MSS suspension from a diagnostic point of view rather than a personal recommendation, might be worth a watch even though its on an RS3 its more about data than opinion

The MSS kit (I think you mean?) is the same for all the G series but local suppliers may use a different SKU
It's the same as the G20/G80 kit

So are these adjustable from stock height down to 30mm less? I'd like to be able to keep it at stock during the winter so I'm not getting buried and then slightly lower it when there's no snow. These retain the factory adaptive damping too, correct?

MSS HAS has a max adjustment of -30mm, sometimes a little less.
They are adjustable after being setup but you will need an alignment every time you change the height as it will affect the steering geometry.
Being springs only the factory adaptive dampers are not affected

Ok sir.
Have you consult with the MSS owner about it?
Because I have.

Not going to argue. You are an end user, I am a reseller who work closely with MSS.
You'll be given answer that they wanted you to hear.

Could one SKU be the extra low version of the kit and the other the regular?
