Descaling a Pressure Washer?
As title suggests...
Any members got any tricks on descaling a pressure washer? Split the pump to find it full of limescale... I've heard vinegar is good? Model is a Comet KS1600. |

I use vinegar all the time for the kettle and shower. 50p a litre usually from the shop. Leave it overnight as said before. Far simpler and cheaper than scale removers.

left in over 2 days, to no avail !
Still white/crusty in the main pump... Although a lot less, was thinking wire wool? Its only cast aluminium, so its not like I need a good finish? OR autosol? |

John320d Thats what I had considered, but there's been no salt exposure unlike an outboard leg or alloy wheel on the road?
Thought about wheel cleaner too, but it seems to be right rough on cast aluminium. I'll post a picture of what its like now after the clean when I get home. |

HAHA... I kid you not, I was just updating this to say that I've not got a chance for pics as I've been too busy trying to descale the bloody thing haha.
So far I've tried - White Vinegar Bath over 48 hours Viakal Wire Brush (had some effect) Descaling powder from B&Q (I suspect this was just bicarb soda) Bicarb of Soda 24 hour soak Tooth Paste Wet & Dry sandpaper (good for flat surfaces and does show pitting) Scraping with Flat head Screwdriver (most effective thing I've done but only very good when dry) I'm now considering a dremel sized wirebrush or grinding stone as it just takes ages with the scraping. @john320d I think you're right with the oxide. |

So here it is...
You can see where I've been scraping and where the face is pitted ! Think this is the best I can get it to. Got all the seal/o ring/oil from the distributors through so just need to rebuild it and go from there... |
