+1, would love to hear it. Have been considering something like this myself, I just want a tad bit more volume to my exhaust.

I've been considering the PE Mod, as I have a brother who is an extremely talented welder, but I'm not the biggest fan of the PE's (both OE and Mod) rasp higher up in the RPM range.

No, PE mod is removing your mufflers, cutting them open, and replacing the "perforated" piping with solid piping. Some will then choose to remove the "mesh" filling in there as well, though I know I would choose not to. By doing this the mufflers still muffle, just not as much.

But once you remove perforated pipe and add a solid pipe you have a straight pipe. The mesh, at this point, and the muffler cavity is completely bypassed. Unless there's something I am not seeing.

It's still pipe inside large casing, the sound gets muffled. Go listen to a video of a catless DP & PE car vs catless DP & muffler delete.

So you are saying if you wrap a large case around a straight pipe it will get muffled? That would be amazing.

Most likely not but that's not what doing the PE mod is. There are still partitions and chambers inside the muffler that change the sound of your exhaust, as well as the fiber insulation if you choose to leave it in the muffler. It is not the same nor will it sound the same as just deleting the muffler.
