Houston: Recommended mechanics/shops/etc

My warranty is up on my E90, so I'm looking for alternatives aside from the dealer. I'm also looking to have an oil change done too soon. Please let me know your thoughts, thanks!

What side of town are you on?

A buddy of mine turned me on to Bimmer Workshop on the north side of town, FM 1960. I just took my E90 there for the first time last week for a tech inspection. Clean shop and very friendly guys. Alan is the owner and Jean, who I talked to, is his brother. I think Alan was a master tech at one of the north side BMW dealerships for 15 years and they have other master techs their as well.

I recently went to a body shop near the Galleria area called Master Autobody and they did a hell of a job installing and painting my bumper. I cracked it and bought one online and they installed and painted for around $400. They seem to have a lot of experience with higher end cars. The guy showed me a ton of pics of cars they've worked on and they had a Rolls, S63, and an SL500 AMG while I was there.

The guy Victor was very friendly and knowledgable about cars, paint, and repairs. I highly recommend them and will be going back if I ever need anything.

painting Carbon Fiber?

Anyone know of a good paint/body shop that has experience painting carbon fiber? Is it pretty much the same as painting any other body part or is it different?

Houston Collision on Westpark and Synott - painted the CF spoiler on my S2000 a while back and it matched perfectly on a black car... not particularly cheap though

Rapid Body Works on the northside do incredible body work. They are an authorized body shop for BMW north, Benz north, Audi, Porsche, all those high end dealers off 45 north. I took my car there twice and I am very particular and they left my car looking like it had a factory new paint job on the area they painted.

You should add European Legacy Motors to that list (www.europeanlegacy.com). They're over on bissonet and do absolutely fantastic work (mechanic/performance/body). They work on all euro cars and specialize is very high end sports cars, great guys as well. Price are top notch also...

Looking for Place to have tires/wheels mounted.

Howdy Houstonians,

Looking for a quality shop that won't make mincemeat of my wheels when it comes to mounting tires, balancing and fitting them back to my 3 series.

BMW in the Woodlands replaced my RFTs with some non-RFTs and charged me $35 per wheel. Looking for a place that may be able to do it for a little less.

Off topic: I agree with the poster above on Rapid Body. It's the best place to have work done if you live in the north Houston area.

Thanks!

Greg

Discount tire has been fine with my previous vehicles, but if you've had bad luck about it, try C&C Northside Motors near Cutten Rd and 1960, they work on a lot of high end cars with large wheels/low profile tires
