M240I 2022 vs 2023
Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum, I had many BMW's before such as E36's 328is and E46's, Also 5 series, But a few years ago I sold my BMW and got myself a Mercedes Benz W204 C350 2 door coupe, which I really like and drives very nice, However, even since the 2022 G42 came out I absolutely fell in love with the design, and truly reminded me so much of my 1998 328Is for some reason, I had 2 of them, a 2 door coupe and a convertible which i really miss, But I am into new technology now especially that my Benz has many options in it and it seems it was ahead of its time back in 2012 ! Before i bought my Benz, I almost bought a 2015 435I but the deal didn't go through as the car had some issues etc, So I ended up with the Benz. So my question is I really like the interior of the 2022 , I love the 2022 design of the dash much better than the new huge screen on the 2023 model, But is there any other differences between the 2 and why I should buy a 2023 over a 2022? If not then most likely I will end up with a 2022. I am waiting a bit until prices go down! first thing i wanna do is remove the tips and install quad tips like some of you have on here, Not sure how complicated it's going to be or If i have to change the exhaust all together! Thank you very much for any tips and anything I should look out for when buying one! |

I've had my 2022 BMW M240i xdrive for over 2-years. Love the car. It's a blast to push this car. It's a torque and grip monster.
I recently had a 2024 loner M240i xdrive that I had for a day. I could see/feel no difference in the driving dynamics. The 2024 M240i had the big screen. I definitely like the 2022 dash layout and more tactile buttons better. But I suppose I would eventually get used to the big screen. To date, the BMW accountants haven't screwed-up the car. Doesn't mean they won't in another 2-years, but so far – no. The big screen would not keep me from getting another M240i xdrive. As a matter of fact, in 2-years, that's just what I intend to do. Major difference as mentioned before is ID7 vs ID8. 22s had an extra compartment up front next to the steering wheel and I believe an auxiliary power outlet in the trunk. I know 2024s had a few more cost cutting measures like the center of the steering wheel no longer being leather. Overall my 2023 seems fine, I believe there is a thread with more info on this if you want to take the time to find it.

Thank you everyone for your guidance on this, Much appreciated! I just wanted to make sure no major changes like engine/trans upgrades! otherwise I will go with a 2022 unless I find a great deal on a 2023 and the right color!
How hard is it to change the tips on the M240i to quad round ones? I have seen A few pics on here and they look good! Do i have to change the whole exhaust or I can just buy the tips? Thank again for all the Info! |

But thank you for the message and all the info, feedback you provided me. That's one of the reasons I still like the 2002 because of the shifter! The only way I would end up with a 2023 if it was a better deal and the right outside/inside color combo! and just make myself get used to it I guess. |

This video title is wrong; it's comparing a 22 with a 23/4.
Honestly, if you like ID7, I think it's mostly deletions / changes in the 23/4s. I personally prefer ID8 and the newer center stack, but you miss out on a few little things like rear climate (irrelevant to me,) a bit of ambient lighting, left hand storage cubby, and some little tiny things. Generally though, I wouldn't worry; you actually might get more with a 22. |

I went with a Milltek catback exhaust. If you haven't found the exhaust tip forum posts, just know that the tips are easy to change but the exhaust pipe is oval in shape. You probably don't want to use any generic/universal tip with a round connection. Good luck with your search! |

Very good point on the easier to reach things for sure! Now that i know there are no mechanical changes such as engine/trans I would look at both 22 and 23 depending on the deal and color combo!

Funny you mention the likeness of the E36, I was thinking this M240i reminds me of a modern interpretation of my E36 M3, especially proportion wise.

I specifically went for the 22 as I can't stand touchscreens. Now if they only would have the option of retro gauges from the E46 M3 or E39 M5 that would be even better.
The 22 had the most features as mentioned earlier and being able to quickly nudge the shifter into sport mode is a bonus. |

Funny, my ‘24 M240i is replacing my manual E36 M3 sedan that I owned for 10 years. I wanted a similarly sized coupe with more power and refinement for longer roadtrips etc, and there really weren’t many other options on the market. Loved the g42 when I test drove it.

I still love my 22 M240 after 1.5 years. Even though I am a long time away from the 5 year mark I am trying to begin thinking of what’s next, and it may be another M240i. It is such a solid all around higher performance car for the price.
Yeah, there is a voice in my head telling me to get an M3, but I don’t do M3 things so it would be a 90% waste, but that 10% of smiles is probably nice. |

To install, remove the inner nuts, unthread the threaded shaft, put the bolt on the outside of the exhaust tip, tighten the threaded shaft using an Allen key, tighten the outer bolt. |
