Does anyone know if the 335is exhaust will fit on a regular 335i?

Just a curious question because ive heard the 335is exhaust note over and over again and the sound is intoxicating. Does anyone this its possible to just swap out exhausts. Ive looked at the pricing and its far cheaper to get the stock is exhaust over going aftermarket. Any ideas anyone?

The exhaust on the 335IS is the BMW performance exhaust with black tips.

Its not the same as PE exhaust. 335is has a flap the left muffler like the stock exhaust.

It should fit, but no one has tried it. Why don't you do it and let us know.

I work at bmw and ive looked over the exhausts when ive had both the cars up on jacks and they look identical and the techs just suggest that the packing is diffrent which is what creates the diffrent sound. and it definetly isnt the bmw performance exhaust. when the price for 335is is 600 and the performance is around 1600.

Does anyone know if the tips are interchangeable or can be ordered on their own? I recently noticed a new F10 535i M-Sport on the showroom floor that uses the same black chrome look to its exhaust tips--either one would look nice on a AW E92.

For an E9X no. I looked into it, the tips are actually welded on.

On the F10, the tips are removeable, they just slip on. They have an accessory option for normal F10s to add on the Black tips that the M sport has, they just pull off and slip right on. Wish we had that for ours, but its not available.

It's cheaper for the iS because it comes standard on the car. The iS basically has the powerkit and the performance exhaust from the factory with one huge advantage...DCT!

Thanks for looking into this. Do you know if the exhaust pipe OD on the F10 is the same as the 2.5" on our cars? I'm curious if its possible to cut the stock tips off and slip the F10 tips over. I'm not sure the shape is the same though.

Does the Performance exhaust also use the redirect flapper valve in the left outlet side like the stock E9x and 335is? I want to think the Performance exhaust is still louder than the 335is.

Interesting, wonder if those F10's tips will slip right on the E9x's exhaust. Anybody wanna try?

Saw an article on this also

There was a early 335is blog reporter that was interviewing an BMW engineer and he spelled out that some packing was removed and it is fitted with a vaccum valve to reduce the noise levels. The 335is exhaust was not up to European standards because of the sound level. So that jives with what two others said.

So if you take a 335i with M-sport and buy the 335is rear diffuser and buy the 335is exhaust for $600 and aftermarket software, and black kidneys then you have a 335is minus a few things. The only thing that is different is the badges, headliner, and there is the extra air, oil cooling, gauges and fog delete which I'm sure you can mod your standard M kit, at that's it.

I calculated a $3400 difference BUT, you can't fake DCT which I'm getting on mine until some crazy person does a DCT transplant I'm sure a few years down the road. I think they should have had other things like special exterior and interior colors at least.

You would have to get really lucky for it to fit. The E9X tips are tack welded on @ the back of the tip, those would need to be ground off and pulled off the exhaust. Then we would need to hope the diameter is the same as the F10. I put a set of the black tips on a black F10 and it looked nice! I wanted to do this to my E90 until I really looked into it. It may be able to be done.

Im curious to see what the outcome of this is. Im going to check on pricing tommorow. I may do this if it works, since I just took off my AMS exhaust. I want black tips and a little louder. This would be perfect and cheap!

Just curious because one of my exhaust tips was hit lightly and pushed in a little. I'm thinking replacing my tips with new tips will fix this problem since they are probably adjustable. If I were to get just the 335is gloss black exhaust tips, I'll have to cut off the original 335i tips and weld the new ones on by a muffler shop, correct?

Thanks guys
