Left Foot Braking - When The "Light" Comes On

Ever have one of those experiences when something you have been trying to get right just comes together?

I have been working on left foot braking for a while now. I just couldn't seem to get it quite right. But tonight, on the way home...WOW! It feels so good when a concept comes together in practice!! The brakes are plenty strong and when you come out of a corner already on boost...amazing...It brought a tear to my eye.

Soon hopefully I will get to try it out on the track. It will be interesting to see if it actually changes my lap times.

Congrats on putting it all together! I love it when the light just turns on and everything comes together. I still remember when and where I performed my first smooth heel-toe downshift.

I've been working on left foot braking as well and it's definitely been challenging. My biggest problem is that I can't "feather" the brakes with my left foot as well as I can with my right foot and so I have trouble modulating the amount of load transfer I need. But with more practice, I hope I'll get there!

I had one of those moments once... but still can't left foot brake. Coming hot into a corner I was understeering, and in too high of a gear. I got on the brakes, while I steered away from the corner in order to line the wheels up straight and actually get some traction to brake. At the same time I heel/toe/double-clutched down to first, and in one swift motion, turned the wheel back into the corner and came rushing out of the corner in first.

I stopped after the next corner and sat there for 5 minutes wondering how that happened. Couldn't figure it out and couldn't do it again!
