Canadian Dealer Discounts off MSRP
Well, I made the jump to the "Ultimate Driving Experience" last week.
I purchased a 323i from my local dealer and negotiated a 3.25% discount off MSRP. I initially asked for 5% and they countered with 2.5%. I was ready to walk when they "adjusted" it to 3.25%. I'm pretty much happy with my purchase as our current hot Calgary economy has no shortage of luxury car buyers and the media reports that a good portion of buyers will even pay full retail. I know there are alot of factors in determining why some dealers dig their heels in and will not offer much of a discount, but if a few of you would be kind enough to say how much of a discount you have received, it would appreciated. I'm trying to determine where in the country they offer the largest discounts. Thanks |

I too live in an area where people have plenty of money for nice things; it makes driving a good discount difficult.
I did some minor arm twisting (all via the telephone), after a store visit and test drive, and managed a 3.7% discount. I'm not proud of that; I felt I left a lot of money on the table, but I had house guests at the time and was a bit distracted. I might have pulled another $700 or so off by going to another dealer 200 miles or so away, but I liked the local salesman and knew I would be coming there for service and wanted to be well taken care of. As for paying full retail, if I had to do that I would not be waiting for my 330i to come off the boat right now, I be driving a TL or Dodge Charger. It's against my religion to pay sticker for a car and I would be unable to look at myself in the mirror if I did. |
