Welding Location EGT and O2 bungs on AR Catless DP
What location would you guys recommend to weld in the EGT bung(s) as well a O2 bung(s) on a set of AR Catless DP. should I weld them on both pipes?
Thanks, Jorge |

Technically you should weld them to exhaust manifolds to get a more accurate reading. But if you have to weld them to the DP's, the closer to the turbine the better. EGT's drop quick after they leave the head.

As for the EGT, a single egt, especially in the DP is pretty useless, you need 1 per cylinder right at the exhaust ports to get any real data.

Sorry I didnt mean on my 335. I use to build engines (honda/toyota) and tapping the known hottest port runner on the exh manifold would be the common practice for most accurate EGT readings. Any reason you need EGT gauge?

I just want to log EGT's when I track the car. Also hoping to tune the car with Cobb ATR when it comes out. I also just wanted to get them welded in before I install them so I don't have to pull them down again. Where is the most common place to add an EGT bung on the DP for a 335i? and for tuning would it help to have an extra set of O2 bungs? or am I just wasting my time?
