The ModBMW ODB adapter is good, it's much faster than the bluetooth adaptors and is a reasonable price with good support should you need it. If you want bluetooth the OBDLink CX Bluetooth is good but slow. I've had both and the wireless adaptor better

I also coded the M virtual cockpit which looks way cooler than the standard one in my opinion. It won't let me code the car to start in sport mode as it gave me a message that my adapter doesn't work for that module. Speaking of the adapter which one are you all using? I have the veepeak one.
Did you code in the M virtual cockpit using BimmerCode or something else?

I've been using the OBDLink CX Bluetooth since on Bimmercodes supported adapters page it is the only one that says "made for bimmercode" on it.

I've used it on multiple BMW and Mini generations with zero issues.

The best OBD2 adapter is the Veepeak one in my opinion. It has worked no matter the model. So I recommend buying that one if you wanna use BimmerLink or BimmerCode

For those of you that have coded the cluster to M Performance and DONT have the M240i logo showing here is how I fixed it:

Go to Instrument Cluster
Click on Backups
Choose the oldest backup and code it (BimmerCode takes backups prior to making any changes)
Exit the Instrument Cluster and then go back in
For Layout choose either of the M performance options and code
You should now have the m240i logo!

My theory is that those of us that choose a layout that was not one of the M performance one’s right off the bat we “lost the ability” for the logo to show up. Once we restore our initial backup and then choose M Performance we get the m240 logo!

So picked up my new beast and noticed that they did not do it properly. Can you code out lane assist to be on every time you turn the car on?

Lane Assist (or Lane Departure Warning) should always be on if you're over 30mph and the system is on. No reason to code that. You can deactivate it if you do not like it in the safety systems menu of your IDrive. You have a button for it next to your hazards to quick access that menu.

Sorry I meant code off. The girl when showing the car turned it off while showing the car but as soon as you restart the car it activates again.

I was hoping it would turn off and remember being off till I need it.

I only really want LDW on the freeways

Wdym by restart the car? Restart as in engine off/on (like when you use the car regularly)or factory reset?

I have the lane assist stuff disabled via idrive and it stays off no matter how many times I cycle the ignition.

Yours should be doing the same.

Reading in the G20 group looks like it's a new code they set up on engine restart default is on for NCAP rating BS

I will check it all again when I get the car back from the detailer. I just want it off for local driving Highway I will keep it on

Okay so you have to make sure your safety systems are in individual and not "All On". If it's on individual, the physical button should change from a green circle to an orange one. Change the Lane Departure Warning to off and that's how you know you're all good. Should stay off no matter what.

I believe it's county dependent if it stays off or not. USA stays off for sure but I think other countries are different.

The OS (iDrive 7) should be the same for the UK as well :

The settings are very much not the same. They use configuration files to change behavior on a country-specific basis, often for regulatory reasons. My understanding is that in some European markets the lane departure settings reset on every start.

When "coding" a car you're modifying these configuration files to change behaviors to something the car already knows how to do, just not in your country or model.

Oh okay my bad. Well if it's not staying off even if that's all done then there's no current way to code it off

BMW have recently changed the menu for some countries, previously you could uncheck steering intervention and it stayed unchecked between ignition cycles until turning it back on again. Now it resets every ignition cycle (in Australia). It's an idiotic call by BMW and recently someone pointed out they had crossed the centreline to give a cyclist space and the steering intervention turned the car back toward the cyclist .
I'm currently looking for a way to code this to add memory to the setting like in auto stop start. It must be there and it would be buried in expert mode but it's well masked. Because it is regional there will be a way of coding it back to remembering the last selection.

Hi Dave,

Please share the code once you work it out. My OBD plug is on its way.

Sorry if I missed this, but can you code led light bars in the taillights to stay on all the time? I did this in my f22 and really liked it as I think it helps people see you during the day.
