Not necessarily. The G87 will be $80k decently equipped. G82 can be had right now well under that. Now let's talk about a 3 year old g87 vs 5 year old g82 in terms of resale value and the g82 will be higher.
Ok let's say $77k. Can you buy a 22' slightly used m4 non comp for that? The answer is yes. Now let's look 3 years from that point. Which will be worth more and which is the higher spec? Ok you don't get idrive8 with a 22'. Doesn't bother me one bit.

Lucky you

My dealer just sold a used 2022 base m3 6mt for 130k plus tax =150k.

New is only 110k but it's a 1 year wait right now

At $100K I'm honestly considering an X3M just for the kids and what not.
I *believe* it also includes a CF strut brace that used to be included on S55 models

What? Yes they are. By that metric the F87 is not mass production either. These are mass production cars. They will build as many as people order. My issue is more that you either get a seriously unequipped M2 at a reasonable price or nicely equipped one for a price comparable to more upscale cars. BTW I was still expecting it to be expensive. Demand is high, and stuff costs more now.

Completely agree here, and it's 99% of what you need. You can equip a ton of M bits on those cars. This is 100% the strategy and why we see astronomical G87 pricing.

EDIT; can someone re-up the guide?

Not sure if i should be posting it again on this thread but hear it is.

Well it gives you 300kph speed limit which I will definitely hit once in a while. I was just reiterating what's included in the $13K CAD Carbon Package.

Most of this doesn't seem true based on the configurators I used...

My build is about $95,300 before tax, or $69,300 USD.

I expected it to be $90K with the options I chose (nearly loaded).

Only options I didn't select were wireless charging and black exterior contents (I prefer the stainless exhaust).

I considered another build without the Carbon pack while adding carbon roof, interior & M Driver's pack at about $88,100 CAD or $64,100 USD pre-tax.

So yes, that's a lot of money for the carbon seats...

Fellow Canadians, don't forget how much the gov't has hurt this country and how weak the dollar is. $96K is yesterday's $85K...
Might seem like exaggeration but I don't think so.

Comfort access alone makes the package a must. In typical BMW fashion next year’s packages should be better.

But seriously, what other options are there in this world for a manual fun car. P cars are way more expensive.

At least you get to avoid the $100,000 Trudeau tax.

For those that have a copy of the Canadian guide: There was a table comparing the G87 and F87 options. It showed the F87 having option 2NH described as M Sport brakes but the G87 had a separate code (it had a Z in it) and was described slightly differently. Is the difference just because of the rotor size and floating/fixed caliper change ? I recall they didn't call it M sport brakes.

Same brakes as the G82. Ugly floating rear is a no-cost option nobody asked for.

What about Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing ? It is less ugly (IMHO anyway), is roomier, and has more precise and durable manual gearbox (indestructible Tremek vs. weak and rubbery BMW unit). And despite its size the Caddy weights about the same, which in my mind makes it a direct competitor. Also the Caddy rides better because its magnetic damping is superior to what BMW offers. And last but not least it is equipped with a proper button-heavy cockpit, so you don't have to hunt for climate controls all over that LCD screen.

I'd love to own one but dealers have no freakin allocations, all car seem to go to the US... At least I can have an M3 next spring.

.... and it drives great!

Problem is it's a 4 door Caddy. And hard to find without a huge dealer markup. Tempting though.

The shifter is reportedly better in the M2 prototypes than in the M3/4 available today. We'll see once the driving reviews on the production version come in. And an Auto Solutions or Rogue shift kit will fix the rubbery linkage if it's needed.

I have a CT4 V Blackwing right now and am 14th on a list for the g87. I do love the Blackwing a lot, but I miss BMW and really enjoyed my old f87 M2C. The Blackwing is better than my M2C I had however, but the new M2 fixes a lot of my wishes I wanted the M2C to have.. I like the exterior more on the g87 as well. The f87 had dated taillights and an ugly rear imo
