Tired of cheap trunk lift supports/shocks

People,

Bought a pair of "BOXI" supports, and it seems like they dont support nothing. It is a struggle to lift/open the trunk. One has to use much force up top about 1/2 way, then the support mechanisms start doing some "lifting". Is this normal, or am I just expecting too much from these supports? Did I but cheap junk?

If so, can you advise of a good brand?

Thanks, people.

The Stabilus I'm using have exceeded my expectations. They are more powerful than what you describe. It's now closing the trunk that is the challenge.

I've had stabilus for 3 years now. First thing I bought for the car and continues to work quite well. Yes, closing the trunk is not for the faint of heart. Hood ones are nice as well.

I recently changed to Stabilus boot struts from some cheap eBay ones. Big improvement, much smoother and a bit stronger.

Stop buying aliexpress rebranded crap on Amazon. Buy OEM from tischer or FCP and they’ll work for another 15 years.
