Walked into this scene last Sunday. The car was parked a few houses away from mine, so when I found out what happened there was already a note from the police on the windscreen.

Right now, I am hardly angry about the person who did it, really, just utterly utterly sad knowing that such damage would be irreversible. My insurer is already taking over the case, but given the age and mileage I am expecting a total loss.

This is my first car. 07 335i, adopted it at 50,000 miles, and since then fitted it with ohlins r&t kit, quaife lsd(shout out to birds), m3 control arms etc. and had those rattling turbos replaced. It drives lovely.

I have been planning to switch to an m4 later this year, so fixing it would be irrational, financially or in terms of time cost. But still, I feel somewhat guilty for just leaving it like this. Would you have done it differently? I was hoping to find it a good owner when the time comes, it deserves so much better then this.

Update:

Had car transported to the garage today, might as well give you an update on what actually happened.

It was alcohol influenced driving as some of you have suggested. 11:45pm, two women in two cars, both drunk, at twice the allowance level actually. The first car crushed into mine and, in terms, was immobilised, she then left the scene with the other person's car. The neighbours were there when it happened, apparently it made quite a noise, there were mobile phone recording as well as cctv footage. The police arrested both of them later into the midnight.

Unlucky mate. So annoying when some fucker damages your car & then just does the off.
It happened to me when I had my e36 328i. The missus came home late one night & couldn't be bothered to put the car in our garage, I came out in the morning to find some cunt had hit the drivers door & front wing & driven off.
Then you pay increased insurance premiums for the next 3-5 years

Looks like a drunk driver to me. How they had that impact and still drove off I just don't know. Unless it was truck as some people have said.

This would be a worst nightmare for me but I plan to keep my car for quite some time and like the OP I've invested a lot of time and effort into it.

Good luck OP. If you can afford an M4 then you're gonna have a great time.

I'd stick a JB4 on it and you'll be as quick as stage 2+ 335s with very little effort with the benefit of the M suspension etc.

Shouldn't matter if she was pissed or not, they could possibly refused to pay for her car but not the third parties.

As mentioned, being pissed or not won't affect her insurance having to pay you.

It will significantly affect her driving career though, and rightlyfully so. Stupid bitch deserves it. Your car could easily have been a person or group of people.

It's an arse, as your car will most likely be written off, and then the argument with the insurance company that will ensue over value - but at least it is clearly nothing to do with you, and your insurance won't be having to cough up for it (and therefore raping you next year).

That's definitely a write off, absolutely no doubt.

The good news is dealing with the insurer of a driver who has admitted fault generally means a more co-operative approach and lucrative payout.

As the no-fault party you should not be left out of pocket at all so make sure you get them to supply a rental car, claim for any lost earnings, etc, etc.

Bad drivers now far too common on the roads, I took delivery of our 335i replacement barely 3 months ago, last week on the way to the nursery pick up some guy in a Seat decides he doesn't need to look/slow down when joining a major road from a side road. Hits me in side, spins my car 180 into the curb with enough force to shatter a 20inch alloy wheel!!

Lucky for him my daughter wasn't in the car, as he hit the area of my car where the child seat is, had my daughter been in the car I would have probably done more damage to him than crash did to his car


Unlucky for him I had a dash cam running at the time, so recorded the whole thing. He later claimed to his insurance company he saw he indicate and that's why he pulled out, so it was my fault. I took great pleasure in sending over the dash cam footage to the insurance company - complete with indicator sounds for a prior junction and utter silence in the moments before the crash. His insurance company has now seen the clip and gone back to him to see if he wants to change his statement, shame I cannot see the look on his lying face when watches the clip. .
