So glad I went with the sun roof. Most of my cars had sun roofs and BMW did a first rate job in its execution. Provisions to support pop-up, slide back, and sun shade.

No rattles, no issues.

The only caveat, and it's a small one, is that you need to take care when waxing to keep wax off the seal.
This photo would've been even more awesome had the front & rear end not been chopped off.

Something I learned like 9 years into BMW sunroof ownership (2 different cars) is that once the sunroof is open, if you slide the button towards the back again it opens some more …. Pretty much all the way.

Not sure if you knew that already but give it a try!

The roof of the G87 is not long enough & is curved at the rear, so the glass is not opening all the way.

Thank you man. But... I already have this photo & you posted it a while back. I was hoping you could re-take that one from the drivers's side instead... LOL

You rock man & I really appreciate you. I'm trying to quickly pay off my X3 M so I can buy a Brooklyn Grey M2 with a sunroof next. So these photos aren't just for my BG G87 M2 collection. They're also motivation for me to keep going & buy one of these awesome coupes before they're all gone. The S58 sure will go down at one of the best & last great ICE powerplants ever built. But I might be a bit biased.

Thanks
1200 miles on a clock with no issues. I specifically went for a sunroof option to get more light in to the car and use it daily instead of opening windows

BMW sunroof drains are known to clog easily, ensure you know how to blow yours out with compressed air. Something about their drain tubing/nipple. Lots of posts about water on the passenger floor.

That said, if I wanted one I'd get one, that would not stop me.
Having had a sunroof in 3 different BMWs (E90, E82, and F25) for 10 years, I have never done any maintenance or had any problems with the sunroofs.

Being in those forums for over the amount of years above, I have never seen issues with them (other than the odd “creak” complaint). I wouldn’t say sunroof drains are known to clog. It’s not a fact.
