There is zero confirmation that there will not be a replacement for cognac so hang tight

Anything is possible up until the lunch of the new model year, which might actually be the LCI

The M boss at the time saw the opportunity, and between customer demand for a smaller & cheaper M car and the existing 1 series, the 1M Coupe was born. If I remember correctly it was only offered in 3 colors (black, white, and orange) and 2 interiors (both black with either blue or orange stitching). It didn’t get an “M engine” and borrowed the turbo 6 from the 35is range. It did get a wider track, suspension bits, brakes, etc from the M3, along with a required 6-speed manual. The intent was to have an entry level M model that could be fun while still being affordable.

The first M2 kept that idea going, initially with a non-M engine as well, and received more options and better hardware as the years went on. The latest M2 is the best equipped model in this lineage to date. It does still have its roots in the parts bin, which is honestly a good thing since the parts in that bin are pretty darn good. You can’t get any color you want, and you don’t get some of the goodies from other models. You do pay less though.

No 360 camera is admittedly whack but it is what it is
I see, thanks for explaining

Wow, those seats look terrible in comparison to cognac that's apparently being "replaced" by something close to this.

Note the small red strips in the blurred G87 photo from Tag and how the 4er has it as the underside of the door handle - by the looks of it, M2 will get black door cards all around (the red dots look to be for the red in the seat bases).

Hard to pick out if the sides of the armrest in the scrambled photo. I asked GPT to unscramble it and it is nothing like the M2

The 992 had a non-PTS paint color called Python Green for a ‘reasonable’ price of $3250. Similar to Chalk, Shark Blue, and Ruby.

Read the comment again, I explained the things they could remove to make the cars different that a reasonable exclusions..not things that I wanted to see.

I originally had the cognac interior on my order, I thought it looked great on the configurator. Then I saw some other cars with the cognac interior at the dealer and I really didn't care for it in person. I generally have stayed away from black interiors just because they seem 'boring' and most cars have black interiors but it was that or the cognac so I went with the black with blue highlighted stitching.

Good observation. Looks like it does get the new flat bottom steering wheel with the red center mark. Here's the pixelated dashboard view showing red at the top of the steering wheel where you'd expect the center mark to be. Don't see anything for alcantara and wouldn't expect that on a base model.

I disagree. These seats look pretty good, and much better than cognac. I'd have probably gone with these on my TR instead of M highlights, tough choice.

I think it’s disingenuous to paint all G87 owners with a wide brush. There are myriad opinions here and for the most part I find this discussion has been mostly civil, informative, and relatively unemotional by unpretentious posters. However, I don’t take the forum and/or myself very seriously. Life’s too short.
YMMV

Ahhh...damn! That's the one thing I would like to have on my 2024 order. Don't really care for the new colors, but would love a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

I don't think it's fair to say that about all G87 owners. They don't all act like that guy.

Carbon seats & roof are available on M2. While rated lower, several dynos have shown the M2 & 4 have the same power output. A front camera is not a safety feature. You should be looking forward when driving forward. Vehicles have these very large windows that allow you to see what's in front of you.

It’s fairly common in the first few years after a new car comes up

And I don’t believe he’s referring to all the owners just the few that make it look really bad

Agree. Looks very much like Accelerate Yellow on the C8 Corvette, which is thankfully being replaced by Competition Yellow for '25.

I am sure they will offer it as an after sales accessory for current M2 owners.
