Exclamation More v3.1 beta maps (10-17)

Hi guys,
Attached are new maps. You will see two folders.

Folder 1 (Map2 equals Map2)
This folder contains map files where both Map1 and Map2 are full boost maps (as opposed to Map1 being low boost and Map2 being full boost). So you can use the user adjustable parameters to customize what you want each map to be. Should be pretty self explanatory if you have a good understanding of the user adjustable parameters (ie, have read the documentation )

Folder 2 (Map2 is 100oct map)
This folder also contains maps files where both Map1 and Map2 are full boost maps. However, Map2 has been adjusted to be a 100oct only race gas map. This means that the following changes have been done to Map2:
-User Adjustable Torque raised from 80% to 90%
-User Adjustable boost limit raised from 16 to 17psi
-Internal IAT compensations have been altered to be more aggressive (less boost drop). Please note that this adjustment has been done "internally" and not through a user adjustable parameter.
-Ignition Advance table has been remapped to be more aggressive. Please note that this adjustment has been done "internally" and not through a user adjustable parameter.

Caveats:
1) Race gas maps should only be run on race gas. In this case, at least 100oct fuel (unleaded).
2) At this time, those who are concerned about diagnostic invisibility should NOT run the race gas map or ANY map where User Torque is set higher than 80%.

Lagfix
Ok.. here's the deal. I enabled a Lagfix function in all these maps (in both folders). The settings are very very "beta." So beta that no one should turn it ON without contacting me directly via email (shiv@vishnutuning.com). So if you want to test this feature for us, please email me and I'll provide you with testing info and suggestions. Please note that turning this feature ON in a car that does not have the laggy BMW software update will cause a limp mode.

And as always, please contact me via email if you have any problems/issues. I didn't get any feedback with the first batch of beta maps I posted. Which I guess is a good thing. But I'd still like to hear from you guys

Cheers
shiv

Nice. I'm looking forward to playing with this over the weekend. I'm gonna fill with 100oct just to play around with this. Hell, with oil down to below $80 a barrel, the price of 100oct should be back down to $6.49/gal sooner or later...

On a more serious note, I hope people read and comprehend what Shiv posted above. Seriously. I think he was plenty specific enough in the message about contacting him and running full race gas, but I hope people take him at his word, i.e., seriously...

It would suck if people didn't heed the warnings and used their cars as guinea pigs for configurations outside what he's stated are safe configurations to test.

Significant difference than previous 3.0 map?

Shiv -

Is there a performance difference with first map, e.g. non-100oct map vs 9/5 3.0 map? Have been running the 9/5 map @ 90% with no problems given the cooler Northern US temperatures and 93 octane gas here

Don't really need the new tuning features with 3.1 so wanted to ask if there are performance inprovements with this 3.1 map vs the 9/5 3.0 map before going through the upgrade process.

TIA

Lagfix?

Has anyone tested the lagfix option on these maps? How does it compare?

I just tested the map for about 80 miles I have the progman update with lag. The lag fix helped so much that I didnt even have to use my sport button. I always have to use it for extra power. Its been awhile since I havent felt lag under 3-4 k rpms. Thanks fro the great update shiv. Keep up the good work.

Your saying their is more lag to take away? I must of had the update cause its way faster below 4k with lag on. My bad I read the post after loading map. I didnt have much time and I was going to dallas. Good trip for testing. It shifts faster too now. Whats a good number for shift speed ?

Shouldn't the race gas map be tuned for say 97-98 Octane, not 100 Octane?
It's hard for people running 91 Octane pump gas to get a pure 100 Octane in their tanks without basically running their tanks dry first (which is not good).

Few people actually run pure 100+ Octane full time, but many can and will run 97 or so Octane when going to the track.
I'd think (though it may drop a few ponies) a race gas map on 97 Octane would be more widely usable.

To be honest, 97oct should be fine as the race gas mapping isn't super aggressive. I just added 1.5-3 degrees of timing back in which isn't huge. But running 100oct will result in better performance. Especially if you raise the boost to 16-16.5 which is 100oct territory only IMHO.

Just download and use WinRAR (basic file compression/extraction program). That's what was used to compress them. That should solve your issue.

I think I had to decompress it with winrar, then rename the resulting folder with a .zip extension, then unzip it with the native winzip application. Might have been another step in there somewhere.

In any case, if you can't get it to work just PM me your email and I will email the files to you. They're tiny anyway.
