For those of you who have purchase the BMW Extended Vehicle Protection, how much did you pay for the Gold package? I got a quote from Advantage BMW of Houston (midtown) for
5 yr/ 100K miles = $2170 6 yr/ 100K miles = $2530 My car is a 2008 328i Automatic Sedan with Sport and Premium packages. Are those prices ok? Please use the following format when you post your quotes.

I've heard people getting the 6yr / 100,000 mile maintenance plan for $2200.00 recently.

My dealer just offered me a 4 year, 100,000 mile for $3,200. This is essentially a bumper to bumper warranty. Good think I check here before going in. Your prices seem pretty good. I still have 1 year of BMW warranty left and 26,000 miles.

I haven't had a chance to email/call around for pricing yet. I did take my car in for service yesterday at the same dealership. My service advisor wanted to sell the same 5 yr/ 100K miles Gold package to me for $2800! LOL This is at the same dealership where the finance person quoted $2170 to me 1 month ago! I forgot how much I was quoted originally so I told my SA that I would shop around then let him try to beat the lowest price. I may call him back tomorrow to have him counter the $2170 price.

I would imagine that there are different MSRPs for different models (328 vs 335, auto vs manual, etc).
To see what the MSRP for each package is, go to the dealer and ask for a service history and list of options on your car. They'll run you a 4 or 5 page documentcalled a Warranty Vehicle Inquiry which will include all of the extended mx and warranty options. I've got a 2008 328i fully loaded. Here are the MSRPs for each option: Maintenance: 6/100 $2095. Extended Warranty: Powertrain plus 5/100 $1600 6/100 $1820 7/70 $1880 7/100 $2090 Gold 5/100 $2170 6/100 $2530 7/70 $2630 7/100 $2980 Platinum 5/100 $2380 6/100 $2800 7/70 $2910 7/100 $3310 The above pricing sheet was given to me three days ago. The Gold extended warranty is an exact carbon copy of the CPO warranty - same coverage, same deductible, etc. I give credit to the car dealers for coming up with the CPO concept - it's a helluva marketing gimmick to fleece the public. |

I just bought a used 335i and looking to get the 7/100 Platinum as well. I think the MSRP is close to $4000 for the 335i, I'd like to know what you all ended up spending for that. Any negotiating techniques would also help
Also, I have been doing some reaching on aftermarket warranties and the best alternative I found (in California anyway) is through Ford Motor Company (Warranty Direct had too many claim issues for my liking). Fords's PremiumCare warranty plan seems to have the same coverage as BMW Platinum (if not better - they have an exclusionary policy with a short list) and I can get that for around $2500 (same 7/100). Do any of you have any experience with Ford ESP? I would like to know how easy their claim process is with BMW Dealerships... http://www.fordespwarranty.com/ Thanks. |

5, 6 and 7 years... what are these based off of, todays date? Or original in service date, or what?
And the 70k or 100k miles.. is this from 0 miles, or the miles currently on the car? Thanks for clarifying! |

Usually those years and miles are from in service date and total miles.

I have a 2007 335i coupe with sport package auto. Warranty is just about up.
Car has approx 33k on it. This is what I got quoted from bmw SA: http://www.fidelitywarranty.com/# 3 yeay 36k Power train $1154 Silver $1416 Gold $1496 Gold + $1748 Platinum $1952 I am not sure really what to get? I am thinking to just get the basic power train and for service etc. just bring the car somewhere else instead of bmw because they charge so much for everything. If something major goes on the car at least i am covered. I will probably only get the 3 year because who knows I might want to get something else. Does this seem like the way to go? Any input is appreciated. |

I'm considering an extended warranty for wifey's 2007 335i sedan with sport package. Warranty is up on time Feb next year and the car only has 30K miles.
Does anyone have the details or differences in coverage between Silver, Gold and Platinum? Thanks, Bob |

Bob, go to this link: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...rotection.aspx
Download the .pdf brochure. You probably want to go with a 7/70 extended warranty. |
