Diff between MY10.5 and MY11 335i Msport?

Hi Guys

Am looking at 335i's. What is the difference between the MY10.5 and the MY11 please ? I can't work it out other than the MY10.5 was discontinued in Oct 10.

Thanks

Don't know if there is such a thing as MY10.5.

BMW usually incorporates their updates in the 3rd quarter of each. A build date of around September, October assumes the next model Year. ie build date of 10/2010 is MY11

Yes, these were the cars with the N54's with DCT's in them. There were a few before the LCI's came out with the N55's with DCT's. Stupid of BMW to have put a handful of DCT's in the N54's instead of just waiting for the a full LCI release.

wiki claims this
Quote:
The eventual successor N55 retains the N54's horsepower and torque, while improving emissions and packaging and reducing fuel consumption, so it has replaced the N54 in many applications as well as supplanting the high output versions of the N52B30. However, the N54 engine has more output potential and is easily modified with aftermarket tuning to produce in excess of 400 hp (298 kW). A version of the N54B30 with higher power and torque but across a narrower peak torque band was introduced in the F01 2009 BMW 740i.[2][14] While the 2011 BMW 335i sedans and the face-lifted 2011 BMW 335i coupes will be offered with the N55, the N54 will be retained in the higher-performing 335is

I have a MY10.5 M Sport & the only difference to the MY11 is the addition of the Combox. The Combox allows you to see album art on your display from an iPhone and also gives you an "office" function. Effectively a few more features. Mechanically the cars are identical.

Does BMW call it a MY10.5 ? Or is the MY10.5 made reference to in a 3rd party communication.

BMW introduced the new I-Drive on all E92's and DCT on 335i's here in late 2009. Are these considered a MY09.5 ?

The MY10.5 is the LCI and all have the new N55 engine. The upgraded I-drive (combox)features were to be introduced in the June built MY10.5 LCI but BMW had problems with this unit. As a result they did not introduce the combox feature till the September built vehicles and called them MY11. There is no other difference between the two cars.
Hope this helps. Ps, there is many forums on the combox features & I am quite annoyed at not having this feature & BMW is not offering a retro-fit.
