I used to work at Madison and Canal and had to turn left at Madison in the morning as people streamed out of the Northwestern train station. If you attempted to creep forward and make your turn, they would slam their hands on your hood and yell at you.
Keeping in mind that they were always crossing, either directly in front of you, or across the street you were trying to turn onto. So, no chance to turn. At all. Ever. These were not Chicago city dwellers either. They were suburbanites taking the train into the city.

This was well before cellphones had decent cameras, or even prevalent, like 1986-1990. But, good idea.
