Shutting down i8 when car turned off

Hello- for some reason it is not allowing me to search.

I have 2023 M240x.

How do I shut down the i8 when I turn the car off?
Sometimes I just want to sit in the car and not have any distractions.
I know I can turn the sound down but I don’t want it draining the battery.

Thanks.

I have a 2022 M240i, and to shut down idrive 7 I press the volume button and hold until the system starts to shut down. That's all there is to it...

Open and close your driver's door.

It’s the same in ID8. Or you could wait a few minutes and the car will do it for you.

More then once I’ve been playing on my phone before I return to work after lunch and everything just turns off.

I think after 10 minutes everything turns off, even the little light in the center glove box.

The thing is the car is always on even when you exit and lock the vehicle. ID8 doesn’t really shut down. It go into a lower power state I guess but it’s always on to connect with data for the connected services. The battery and alternator are pretty beefy so it should be fine. Haven’t tried myself but I think the car should be able to sit for at least 3 weeks without an issue.

I've sat in the car many times when arriving for an appointment early. I timed it at 15 minutes of inactivity.

Rather sit in the car than in a waiting room!

15 minutes ???
There have been times when mine has shut off after 3 minutes, with audio playing from my phone.
These computers just do whatever they want

Thanks. The only thing that worked was pressing the volume button and holding it.

Interesting that the i8 genius at dealership said that I can’t shut it off but I was on my phone in my car for 30 minutes yesterday after pressing volume button and i8 never came back up.

Thanks again.
