Damn it! Major repair...how much?

My AC decided to stop working on my 323i '07. Driving in the heat and is horrible! Even my iPhone gave a temp warning!

Then the next day my engine was running rough. So I took it to a local mechanic and found a coil pack had gone, and the AC pump was not engaging.

Found that the ac compressor had blown sending metal filings into the aircon system.

So a total replacement of the aircon system(pump, pipes, dryer, etc) + 6 new coil packs + plugs.

Quoted 21k (11k parts and 10k labour)

Is that reasonable ??!??

Cheers!

Garage List
My A/C compressor failed last year and got repaired under cpo warranty(no charge)$50 dec., but the tech told that was around $4500 bill for the repair.

Excluding parts? The pump costed me 7000 with other parts around another 2k on top and the repair breakdown just for the pump costs another 7k.

Just checked Realoem and the cost for the pump seems about right. (if the quoted price was for a new pump)

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...94&hg=64&fg=50

they're probably making most of the money from the install and not much from the parts.
