320 D power Upgrade
Hello everyone.
I have been scouring the internet and magazines to try and find a sutable power chip or remap for my 320 D e90. Can anybody recomend a good supplier that will provide around 190+ BHP. |

Sure.. its being officially shown at the frankfurt show, so it may be best to wait for the show to be over then give a call to your local Alpina dealer and see if they have the engine chip for you ? |

You might want to have a look at www.superchips.co.uk.
My mate has had his done there and he gained an extra 33bhp. |

Ac Schnitzer offers a chip in South Africa (and I'm sure around the world) which puts power up to just around 145kw. (up from 115kw here). The best part about it, in south africa the chip DOES NOT void any warruanties or service plans and is 100% BMW approved.
I would get it, but I don't have any spare money right now... |

Alpina does NOT supply upgrades for cars (Except wheels and aerodynamics packs). You cannot buy a chip from Alpina. Only a complete car.

Superchips have a good reputation and have agents nationally. However the chip for the 320 needs an additional part that can only be fitted by some of their operatives I'm told...I'm still sorely tempted but haven't done it yet

Thanks for that.
I'll speak to my mate later and ask him what they did to his. Have to say I'm also tempted having experienced the increase in performance in his 320D. Only concern is if BMW do a software upgrade during a service, will it reset everything back to stock level and do they have visibility of the chip using their diagnostics ? |

These issues then point me towards one of the tuning "boxes" that can be unplugged, and also sold when you change the car...but they don't seem to be regarded as the best solution..... and so I go around in circles.........!!!!

I dropped a line to DMS after your earlier post E90 and got the following reply:
"Thanks for the enquiry. We take power to 190 bhp and increase torque to 390 Nm. Cost £595+vat. Changes undetectable by BMW service and diagnostic equipment. Upgrade can be effected at your location." |

I phoned DMS as well and guy who was very good told me that they alter the software in the car so that the fuel amount, turbo pressure and whole host of other technical items are changed to increase performance. An engineer comes to your car and alters the car anywhere in UK for £595 + VAT.
He said the performance will be close to 330d from the 320d when changed. They will also put your car 'back' to how it was Free of Charge if you want (e.g. end of lease). I understand that the 'bolt on' devices just alter the fual quantity that the ECU is telling the common rail to give so are much cruder in how they work in comparison. Tempting - but a lot of cash

I want it, but it's too much for me to spend right now. The sales assistant (from another dealer) who sold me my car - confirmed that the ACS chip wouldn't affect motorplan/warruanty but warned me that it does wear out your tyres alot faster (all the extra tourque without the suspension to handle it) and increases your fuel consumption dramatically. |
