Your reading comprehension needs work. I never speak in absolutes. In fact, I specifically referenced the AVERAGE. There are always outliers; I bought my first M3 at 24 years of age. That doesn't mean the average isn't relevant. Your average person in their early 20's isn't driving a car that is approaching $100k.

Comprehension has nothing to do with it, I've literally seen to many comments targeting younger people owning Ms and it's funny how the mommy and daddy comment pops up

Well, where there is smoke, there is fire. The average early twenty something isn't driving a car approaching $100k, nor is the average early twenty something driving a nearly $100k car AND living a self sufficient lifestyle (…e.g….not living at home with their parents). Are there exceptions? Absolutely!!…..but those individuals aren't representative of the average. You shouldn't take it personally. Not everything is an attack.

I agree on that, didn't mean to come off as an ass either. I hate seeing the kids my age flex their high end GT3s etc when they are parent supplied. It erks me lol. Makes me grateful, as I won't be struggling when I rely on myself.

You're doing it the right way, and with that comes the respect. I love a good success story ripe with independence and hard work.

It can haul the family around and still has the looks and performance to make an enthusiast happy. If you could only have one car it's tough to think of anything better than an M car.

That said, the 718 is a true sports car and a completely different experience than an M3/M2. 2 seats, low to the ground, mid engine… it's the real deal. Aside from raw power, the feel and balance of the car can't be matched by an M car. The things that make the 718 so great come at the price of space and practicality which is why it can't be the only car you own if you have a family.

In a perfect world you have the M car as your daily and 718 as the weekend car
I have spent time in Boxsters and Caymans. I test drove a Spyder before I bought my F87 CS. Respectfully, I prefer the F87 CS over the 718. The F87 CS was just more fun. I wouldn't trade it for any P car outside of a GT3.

I get what you were saying but I know you've been around the block long enough that you should know by now people get triggered online for everything nowadays. You have to constantly walk on eggshells to share your perspective because someone always finds an excuse to take it personal.

And yes, your typical 25 year old is not buying a brand new M cars without some sort of financial assistance, be it from their parents, friend, relative, sugar daddy/mommy, ect. unless they are an outlier (Programmer/coder, YouTube influencer, drug dealer, professional scammer, ect).

25 YO is typically when most are starting grad school attempting etch a real career, they ain't even dreaming of a 70k car note. Forget the sticker price, at that age the insurance rates alone in most cities will bleed them dry.

Real talk! My partner's wife is porn star. Her income was about $200k. Together they made about double that figure.

Yep! His wife is Asian and does porn. I could never do it. My jealousy just wouldn't allow for that kind of lifestyle.

So I just checked, there's even a market on onlyfans for middle aged white guys that carry a little extra weight. *signing up*

From a first real life look at BMW Welt of G87 M2 in Toronto Red to an Asian woman doing porn on OnlyFans for a living: welp, in just 8 pages going deep-down the rabbit hole.

Ya that's been the average age for decades but it's for the entire lineup.

On an inflation adjusted basis this car seems to be the same price as E46 M3 which I view as a direct replacement.
Let me know how many twenty-somethings you come across in new M2's (…that weren't supplied by their parents).
I'm one

Speaking of porn stars.. YouTuber Samcrac (1.25m subs) has a famous stepmom, often appears in his videos. Cleverly and hilariously. Both of them laughing all the way to the bank.

This conversation really summarizes my rationale for this M2 too… I had a 981 cayman before having a kid, and then an Alfa 4c for first few years after he was born. I tried to make the “2 car” enthusiast garage happen for the first 2 years (Alfa Romeo 4C was the weekend car and an X1 for kid/grocery hauling. 4C was far more special than any M or Porsche I’ve driven before, sad to see it go.)

Even as an enthusiast the “weekend 2 seater sports car” use case was way overrated, and I probably wouldn’t do it again until after my son is old enough to ride in one. Only ever got to drive it alone, and no way to take son to car events or enjoy it with the family for short weekend trips to the mountains.

911 wouldn’t work due to leg room for wife.. so this M2 is really the only exciting coupe with a usable back seat on the market
You hit the nail on the head - once you have kids a two seater isn't gonna work if you want to do things as a family or at least take the kids or one of their friends with you. I never had an issue owning a 2 door, even with baby seats, but a two seater doesn't give you any flexibility. Could've would've bought a GT3 for sure, but too much of an ownership compromise. YMMV of course but in most cases, you end up driving the car alone which can also be therapy…..

Porsche has lost me for now with the dealer games for allocations and ADM, and while I also like the G80 i am going to wait for a real life look and drive of the M2. Will wait until LCI for either, or another CS would be fine too
