99.99% of owners can't use the vehicle's full potential, and definitely not on the street, so arguing over which version is faster is pointless. If you're planning to track the vehicle and you're concerned about times, you already know the auto is the better choice. |

After 4 years of ownership and driving my 135i MT through traffic as a daily, I told myself I’d never get a BMW MT again. The MT / clutch / shifter etc in the 135i wasn’t particularly great. In fact it sucked. I even put a short shifter in and that didn’t help. I put a clutch stop in and that helped but only so much. I never did the CDV delete - I should have.
So what do I do? This many years later, I’m building an MT BMW again. I think the Ultra pedal, CDV delete, ssk etc will all help this one out. It felt better on my test drives than my 135i did stock. I don’t know - tough call. I’ve daily’d an auto CUV for the last like 7 years and am itching for another manual sports car. Hope I’m not making a mistake.

I think BMW has this ZF dialed in even on the high performance M platforms. Loved it in her X3MC and this M2 as well. Would a MT M2 be fun at times? I'm sure it would and I've owned plenty MT over the years, but for my wants, needs and performance it's AT all the way for me. There is no right or wrong. Whatever floats your canoe.

You can't like cars, driving, or mechanical engineering unless you row gears like 90yrs ago. By this logic we should all stop using fuel injected engines and go back to steam. It goes both ways with the all or nothing arguments. Last edited by zero21; 04-04-2024 at 01:29 PM.. |

I think if your coming from an Alfa QV the M2 is definitely a bit more numb but it’s by no means blunt I’ve driven the Gillia QV plenty as I had a Stelvio QV for a few years and they are definitely more emotive. Totally agree the m mode and m button split is a massive quality of life gripe. I just find the m2 comes to life once your on it and is more relaxing that the alfas when your not. |
