Custom order G42 sitting in factory for over a month

MY car finished production Dec. 15th. My salesperson at Crevier BMW Santa Ana, CA says the reason it's still sitting at port Lazaro Cardenas due to not enough cars to fill a ship earlier this month. Next ship to Oxnard is Feb. 26th. Anyone else waiting like me for a West Coast, CA delivery?

Might have been damaged waiting on parts/repair. Need to investigate more go above your CA and ask for the sales manager and get the right answer.

Why would you think that? The reasons given above your comment are much more likely!

It’s a fair guess. Especially keeping in mind a recent poster allegedly had his car vandalised in Country.

Certainly no more or less ridiculous than the “it’s pretty standard” comment you made. It’s not in the manufacturer’s interest to have stock on the dock.
My car was manufactured mid Dec 2022. It was at my dealer in the UK 8th Feb 2023.

took mine 4 months total sat waiting for a ship for 3.5 weeks. Sometimes you get lucky and yours is one of the last on the ship sometimes you have to wait for the ship to fill. The wait will be worth it.

Now that’s a more sensible statement as it rightly implies that for every car that waits several weeks for shipping, there are an equal number that ship very quickly.
Cars do get damaged and repaired at dock also Customs will, as in our cases, work on the Mexican clock.

I notice the “ridiculous” wording ridiculing another posters view has now rightly been retracted.

Three or four weeks is pretty normal for US vehicles.

I think I was a bit over 3 weeks to Vegas.

Average seems to be 2 to 6 weeks to US.

Unfortunately Europe is a much longer wait.

I've seen 2 to 4 months wait time. Some have had better luck in certain cases.

From once the car is built, and waiting to be shipped to Europe.

These 2 threads will help you to have a better understanding of how build times and shipment work:

Placed my order on 1/26. The Sale person said car started production 2/08 and he said its estimated to be done on 2/28. and most likely I'll receive it end of March.

With the app, it still in the "Production begins" phase so no real progress.

From my experience in dealing with several new cars over the years, sitting on a "ship" or "at port" for more than 8 weeks, is usually sign of a damaged car waiting for parts to arrive and fix.

Dealers may or may not disclose the damage, and it will NOT show up on the carfax so you'll never find out.

You must just be VERY unlucky. Or are you suggesting that EVERY (“usually”) car shipped to UK & Europe and took 3 to 4 months to arrive at the dealership was damaged? I think not!

no signs of any damage on my last 2 BMW ,this time lack of ships has been the issue.
