Vibration Issues
Has anyone had problems with vibration above 60-70mph ?
I have had the balancing checked twice independently and the stealer took it out for a test yesterday and agreed something was not right. All the tyres are new although not the stock set up (235/40/ZR18's all round). He said that they would have to change all the wheels as a test and see if that sorted it, but that would be chargeable and remember these are Spanish mechanics so they wont be in a hurry Have any of you lot had similar probs, I was wondering if the pressure in the rear tyres could be increased, currently all are at 32psi. I have booked it in for Monday at the stealer's so want to try everything I can before parting with even more cash  |

Andy, when I saw the title of your thread, I thought " I hope this problem relates to his car"...
Never experienced vibration (in my car that is) and yes I would definitely try the stock set up to see if this corrects the problem. Good luck |

Why would it be chargeable at the dealer to sort out a vibration issue? If they agree there is a problem and the car is under warranty I would stand my ground and get them to sort it.

It could be a pressure issue, but that doesn't entirely sound right either. I think that the balancing has not been done correctly. If the vibration always starts at a particular speed and it is felt through the wheel then it's almost certainly balancing. |

I have just e mailed the dealer and told him I want new correct tyres (225/40 R18 fronts and 255/35 R18 rears, he fitted 235/40's all round) by the end of this week or else ( I know some good lawyers, you need them down here believe me ). Hopefully get his response later today so will let you know Andy |

it can only be unblocked by BMW or someone with a 'tool', think they must go in to the diagnostics and do something. Then I think you can only have it blocked the same way, the manual certainly doesnt say anything, just says if the DVD does not eject then 'the drive is blocked', but does not go on to say the reason why or how to unblock it. Its great now as i can put all my mp3's on a DVDR (when not using the Nav, obviously)

The dealer I bought it from responded to my e mail by saying that the tyres were not deformed and had a life span of 5 years and that I could take the car again and I could see for myself when it was on the machine. I have found out that the wheels are replicas, mine do not have a number stamped on them next to the wheel nuts, but originals do. There is a similar car to mine in the dealers with RFTs on original 162s although they have done a few kms more than mine, I told him that I wanted these wheels and tyres in exchange for mine. He agreed and swapped them. I took it on the motorway straight after and floored it..it was like a different car Got to 180kmph and thought I had better behave. Obviously there was something wrong with the wheels or tyres but I will never know what exactly, but who cars Feel sorry for the poor bast$/% who buys the other Beemer with my wheels on |
