Funny thing on a diff thread I trashed the looks of the m2 but said interior is nice and that only decent bmw right now is the X5 which I own. Got called out as a troll. Guess we shall find out how many of these reviewers are trolls on Sunday.

same thing happened on the g80 forums. people who made fun of the grill were blocked. bad magazine reviews were seen as people who were biased, hypocritical, or being edgy for clicks. its still going on with the CSL reviews, they were up in arms when the GR86 beat it on evo car of the year. hilarious to see.

G8x hasn’t gotten bad reviews for anything but looks (who cares).

Looks like Thomas owns a 2018 M2.

I’m waiting to see what Georg Kacher has to say, he usually is quite objective in his assessments and a lot less emotional in his evaluations. He is primarily a CAR Magazine author, although some of the US magazines often carry the same articles. He was one of the few journalists to drive an M2 pre-prod car on track last summer: https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-reviews/bmw/m2-coupe/

Yes, he has for a few years. There is a review video of it specifically on the Throttle House YouTube channel.

Thomas mentioned a few times in recent videos that he hates the look of the G87, but I'm looking forward to their thoughts on the way it drives.

To be honest BMW needs the tough love right now. Their design language is in a bad place currently. BMW is lucky their cars drive so well and have other redeeming attributes. They are not anti-BMW, they own multiple BMW’s. They will not be the last to criticize G87 design.

Thomas is great, James too. Those Throttle House guys are in the group of maybe 4 or 5 review channels I find interesting and worth the time, and I watch everything they post to their channel.

But I have to say, I do not care what ANY of these reviewers have to say about the LOOKS of the car. Functionality, interior and driving experience... ya, I want to hear about their experience and will consider their opinions.

I'm not sure I like the look of the G87 never having seen it in person (I definitely dislike it less today than upon release, and I'm even beginning to, dare I say, like the look of BG with the carbon bits I have added to my build), and frankly, I don't care what it looks like. Matt Farrah's opinion on the rear bumper--who gives a hoot?! I'm buying this unique 3 pedal car to drive it, and last I checked, I can't see the fat a$$ or the square front bumper cutouts from the driver's seat.

I agree with this. But I'll add two things:

First, many people that are bashing the looks of the newer BMWs seem stuck on design aesthetics of 10 years ago. That's my observation. So let them keep their 10 year old car and drool over it. Many others like new designs and evolution. The F87 M2 was sexy. But when I see one next to a G87 M2, it looks dated.

Second, has anyone noticed the designs of most of the premium brands these days? The full face grills and shiny black plastic on the fronts, sides, and rears, are everywhere. It's not to my liking. But to single out BMW is kind of odd IMO. Honestly I like the chunky kidneys grills, and the M2 has less shiny black plastic than a lot of other cars, which is one reason why I want one.

Style and tastes are subjective. I'm still puzzled at how angry people get over it, both regular posters on this forum, and so-called professional reviewers.

I’ve compared the F87 -G87 progression before to the Z3 - Z4 model change.

I think this step is very so
Liar, and I look forward to seeing some (including my own) side by side comparison.

New models will always date the predecessor. Some of the anger comes from people knowing this is the last generation of petrol-only M cars and this is the design language we get. The F90 M5 was a home run in terms of styling. G80/82 pig nose is just hideous.

G87 is just meh, I don't dislike as much as Farah was saying. Black will be the best color choice, hide some the protruding aspects of the design. I actually think the G42 styling looks better than G87. It just lacks those wider hips.

With that said, look forward to seeing the first deliveries.

I totally agree with you, just wish there was some way to keep the weight down on these newer sports cars. That's the only thing you can fault BMW for with the G8x launch.

The weight can easily be dropped by BMW if they chose to, but we would not have an entry price of $62k either. We cannot have it all.
